Crystal Palace and Sunderland play on Saturday afternoon degradation cracker against each other. The stakes: shackling or quit.
Crystal Palace
Sam Allardyce has always been known that his teams are really hard to beat, especially because it is difficult to score against these teams. Meanwhile, he also seems to Crystal Palace to focus more on defense, where Alan Pardew correctly chose the attack. So it seems that we will see a transformation of The Eagles. Allardyce has the desired defensive reinforcement inside: the Liverpool maligned Mamadou Sakho is on loan from The Reds.
The defensive work of Allardyce then became clear last week Palace played the away match at AFC Bournemouth. Palace won 0-2 at Bournemouth thanks to goals from Scott Dann and Christian Benteke. It looked defensive finally good and Palace held its first clean sheet since Boxing Day. Sam Allardyce expressed afterwards therefore particularly pleased with ‘zero’.
The victory at Bournemouth was the first in the Vitality Stadium since 1978. The last five meetings between Palace and Bournemouth all ended in victory for Bournemouth (three times) or a draw (twice). Now Palace should also look to strongholds in-house, and at Selhurst Park Palace lost its last four league games in a row. In those four games Palace made only two goals. Incidentally, salient detail: Patrick van Aanholt is the week immediately against his former employer after his transfer.
Probable lineup Crystal Palace
Hennessey, Tomkins, Dann, Delaney, van Aanholt, McArthur, Milivojevic, Zaha, Cabaye, Puncheon, Benteke
Sunderland
After the departure of Patrick van Aanholt Sunderland could not sit still in the transfer market. David Moyes managed to take over Bryan Oviedo and Darron Gibson from Everton. The latter had no chance of Koeman, but Moyes he knew from their shared time at Everton. He wanted also like Leonardo Ulloa take over Leicester City, but The Foxes forests not get rid of him. And so it has been a somewhat disappointing transfer window.
It is very doubtful whether Sunderland will manage to survive in the Premier League. Last week Sunderland played still handsome 0-0 with Tottenham Hotspur. The Black Cats were resolutely for the day which was mainly due to the duo Ndong and Koné, who both returned from the Africa Cup. Koné especially impressed that with fifteen ball winning rings most times the ball then conquered every other player on the field.
However, the problem of Sunderland is making goals. With the departure of Sunderland left-back Patrick van Aanholt has surprisingly returned to paradoxically enough scoring ability and it has only three players who have scored a goal. Sunderland made in his last five games in all competitions, only one goal, and then the old saying of our soccer guru comes up again: if you do not score, you can not win.
Probable lineup Sunderland
Mannone, Kone, O’Shea, Denayer, Jones, Ndong, Rodwell, Larsson, Oviedo, Defoe, Borini
