Sweden vs Peru Prediction & Betting tips
Next Saturday, two World Cup-goers face each other. A good general, because both countries now practice against an opponent who is more or less as strong as the competition in the pool.
Sweden:
As we all know, Sweden was in the group with the Dutch National Team. The difference between the Netherlands and Sweden was not made in the mutual matches (because the Orange was stronger, but this was compensated by the Swedish victory over France) but on goal difference. With an 8-0 victory in Luxembourg, Sweden won the second place at the expense of the Dutch national team.
In the play-offs, the team of Janne Andersson was too strong for Italy. In Stockholm, it became 1-0 for the Scandinavians by a goal by Jacob Johansson. Then the Swedes held their ground on Italian soil, when no goals were scored. This allowed Sweden to sign up for the global final tournament for the first time since 2006.
We find a surprise in Sweden’s selection. Zlatan Ibrahimovic shines through absence. The superstar thanked two years ago for the national team but wants to return suddenly now that the World Cup has been reached. National coach Andersson did not respond to this.
The selection includes a load of former Eredivisie players: Kristoffer Nordfeldt (ex-Heerenveen), captain Andreas Granqvist (former Groningen), Oscar Hiljemark, Ola Toivonen and Marcus Berg (ex-PSV) and John Guidetti (ex-Feyenoord) .
Eye catchers are Emil Forsberg (RB Leipzig) and Viktor Nilsson-Lindelöf (Manchester United).
Peru:
It may have lasted no less than 36 years, but next summer we may welcome Peru again at a global final tournament.
Qualifying in South America was extremely exciting this year. Prior to the last round of play, Colombia, Peru, Chile and Paraguay were still candidates for direct placement, the playoffs and immediate elimination. Peru and Colombia played a mutual match, but as Chile went down against Brazil and lost Paraguay in its own field against Venezuela, Colombia placed itself directly and Peru finished fifth in the playoffs.
In the playoffs, New Zealand was the opponent as expected. In the first match in New Zealand there was no score, so Peru could finish it a few days later in Lima. It was 2-0 by hit by Guerrero and Farfan.
The now 34-year-old Guerrero is immediately the most discussed man of the Peruvians. The Flamengo attacker tested positive for cocaine in October 2017 in a doping test after the World Cup qualifying match with Argentina. He was then suspended by FIFA, but he was acquitted on appeal.
Together with ex-PSVer Jefferson Farfan he will form a vanguard. Together with other famous names like Feyenoorder Renato Tapia, André Carillo from Watford and Paolo Hurtado from Guimarães, the Peruvians will try to convert in a group with France, Denmark and Australia.
