Middlesbrough vs Sheffield Utd Prediction & Betting tips
Neither Middlesbrough nor Sheffield United had the season start on Saturday that had been hoped for in advance. At the Riverside Stadium, both teams will now win a bit of revenge to make a good start to the season.
Middlesbrough:
As one of the favorites for promotion this year, Middlesbrough traveled to London for the away match against Millwall. At The Den the match between the numbers five and eight of last season was on the program and judging from the two games of last year (1x win Middlesbrough, 1x profit Millwall) it promised to be an exciting pot. However, there was not much excitement in the first half. Millwall was the stronger match and managed to get a 2-0 lead within forty minutes. The second goal came from big banter from Boro defender Aden Flint and keeper Darren Randolph.
In the second half, the team of Tony Pulis, the coach who is best known in England for the passive playing style of his trained teams, started to play more forward. Good luck did not yield that in the first instance. Only just before time Danish international Martin Braithwaite scored the tying goal and with that the intense end of the game started. That slot had an insane end when left back George Friend in extremis (97th minute) the equalizer shot against the ropes. For example, Middlesbrough did not experience the desired start of the season, but is still allowed to squeeze hands with the conquered point on The Den.
Sheffield United:
With the home game against relapse Swansea City Sheffield United immediately faced a tough race as a season’s start. On Bramall Lane, United had to be more than happy to book a good result. In the first half, however, it seemed that both Swansea and United did not see the need to attack. The game continued without major chances for both teams. It was not until the second half that the game started to revive and that resulted in the beautiful opening goal of George Baldock in the 62nd minute. The right back was the basis of a beautiful attack that he himself managed to finish with a tight slider out of reach of former SC Heerenveen goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt.
After Baldock’s goal, Bramall Lane exploded and United appeared on the way to victory, especially as Chris Wilder’s team simply played better than Swansea. Within a quarter of an hour, however, The Blades were again put on the ground with both feet by a hard-hawking equalizer of the visitors. That goal turned out to be the start of a final offensive of Swansea. United was no longer in the field and it was time to wait until Swansea scored the winning goal. It was extra acidic that this goal did not occur until five minutes before time. The home team tried to force the equalizer and almost shot it by chance when Connor Roberts shot the ball right next to his own goal. The deserved equalizer, judging by the entire game, remained out and so United was left empty-handed at the end of the game.
