Villarreal vs Real Madrid Prediction & Betting tips
Real Madrid will visit Villarreal in the first Spanish competition match of 2019. Both teams hope to start the new year with a victory immediately.
Villarreal:
Villarreal hopes in her first game in the new year for a fresh start, as the yellow shirts have been performing so far this season so far. With only fifteen points from sixteen rounds, the team must even fear relegation. Since returning to La Liga in the summer of 2013, Villarreal always ended up in the subtop, so it was no surprise that trainer Javi Calleja was kicked out last month. Successor Luis Garcia now has to guide El Submarino Amarillo to calmer waters.
The big problem lies in the forefront, because with only seventeen goals, Villarreal is one of the least scoring teams of the Spanish king. This is remarkable since, with players like Gerard Moreno, Pablo Fornals, Santi Cazorla and Carlos Bacca, there is a lot of creativity and scoring ability in the Ceramica. Under Luis Garcia, however, Villarreal shows signs of recovery, as the team managed to score twice against both Spartak Moscow (2-0) and Huesca (2-2). So there is light at the end of the tunnel, although the confidence of the yellow shirts is still very fragile.
Real Madrid:
In spite of a very poor first half of the season, Real Madrid managed to finish 2018 in style by winning the World Cup for club teams for the third year in a row. In the final, Al Ain from the United Arab Emirates was swept off the field with a resounding 4-1 victory.
The Madrilenians may therefore officially call themselves the best club in the world, although there is little to be noticed in La Liga this season. De Koninklijke sustained damage in no less than seven of the sixteen league matches. The biggest problem is the lack of goals, because with only 24 league goals, the star formation of coach Santiago Solari scored only half of the total goal production of arch rival FC Barcelona. The wise gentlemen at the Santiago Bernabeu have undoubtedly thought that other players would stand up after the summer break of Cristiano Ronaldo, but that simply happens far too little. Gareth Bale was in the semi-finals of the World Cup for club teams against the Japanese Kashima Antlers (1-3 wins) admittedly a hat trick, but in La Liga he stands on four goals. Club top scorer Karim Benzema (six goals) is not even in the top ten of the Spanish top scorer list. With attacking players such as Vinicius Junior, Brahim Diaz and Rodrygo, up-and-coming talent is ready, but this Real Madrid needs an attacker of absolute world class who is directly involved. However, a worthy replacement for CR7 is not yet around in the Bernabeu.
