Sassuolo vs Sampdoria Prediction & Betting tips
Sassuolo is currently in no man’s land. After a bad series, the tickets for Europe are out of sight, but given the lead of eleven points, it does not have to worry about relegation. Sampdoria still has a chance to win a place in the Europa League, it will have to overtake Torino or Atalanta, both teams have a five point lead.
Sassuolo:
Last weekend Sassuolo received a visit from Napoli, who played against Salzburg for the Europa League three days earlier. Sassuolo seemed to be taking full advantage of this, after 52 minutes Domenico Berardi scored from the only goal on his team in this match. With 81 minutes played, Alfred Duncan even seemed to make the winning, but his powerful header went just over the post. Shortly before time, Napoli made a well-earned equalizer after a great stab. For Sassuolo this means that it has already been six games without a win, in that series it scored only three times and lost 3-0 to both Juventus and Empoli. Since Kevin Prince Boateng’s temporary departure to Barcelona there has been a big lack of goals at I Neroverdi, only Khouma Babacar scored more than four goals this season (six in 22 games).
Sampdoria:
Sampdoria currently needs the points to be able to reach sixth or seventh place, but has not done a good service in the last month and a half. Low-flyers Cagliari and SPAL were won, but no points were taken in the matches against teams from the left row. For example, Inter and Napoli lost in February and in between even lost home to number nineteen of the Serie A Frosinone.
Last week it played the most important game of recent months against direct competitor Atalanta. A victory would mean that Sampdoria would be one point above the team from Bergamo, but the 1-2 defeat put La Samp five points behind. Both teams created plenty of opportunities from which Atalanta was the only one to benefit. Sampdoria scored the goal from a penalty but was not sharp in the completion of the chances from field play.
For trainer Marco Giampaolo there was more bad news in addition to the defeat last weekend, Attacking midfielder Riccardo Saponara dropped out at Atalanta in the first half and also seems to have to miss this match, the same goes for right back Jacopo Sala who had to be in the second half to replace.
