CSKA Sofia vs Titograd Prediction & Betting tips
Bulgaria vs. Montenegro are in one of the three first leg of the first European League qualifying round on Tuesday. 94 teams participate in the first qualifying round. For 47 of them, the European Cup adventure ends in mid-July. According to general expectations, the fate of the early exit is likely to overtake the Montenegrins, as favorite is at CSKA Sofia against Titograd, according to quotas of the betting offices of the Central Sports Club of the army. However, the winners of the first round matches still have a long way to go before the group stage. Including the playoffs there are a total of four rounds and therefore eight matches to complete before the athletic and financially rewarding participation in the Europa League finals is waiting.
After all, CSKA and Titograd spared the pre-qualification. There, only the nations with the low UEFA coefficient have to participate. This season, these were clubs from Andorra, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Kosovo, Luxembourg, Northern Ireland, San Marino, and Wales. While OFK is still a greenhorn when it comes to the European Cup, the most successful club in Bulgaria can look back on a rich history in the European Cup.
CSKA Sofia:
The former army club CSKA Sofia went bankrupt in 2015 and had to descend into the third-rate regional league. Subsequently, Litex Lovetsch owner Grisha Ganchev took over the club and played under the name ZSKA Sofia further in the Bulgarian capital first league. Legend Hristo Stoichkov was able to win Ganchev as a shareholder and also the majority of the fans were behind the takeover. These will support their favorite club on Tuesday evening, when CSKA Sofia will go against Titograd according to odds of various bookmakers as a favorite in the match.
In the past three seasons, the Central Sports Club of the Army Sofia each runner-up behind upstart and series champion Ludogorets Razgrad. With 31 championship titles, CSKA remains the most successful club in Bulgaria. At European level, CSKA has in the past twice reached the semi-finals in the European Cup of Champions (1967, 1982) and the semi-final in the Cup Winners’ Cup 1989. Of such highs, the Bulgarians are currently as far away as the earth from the moon.
Nevertheless, between CSKA Sofia and Titograd also our forecast does not exclude a tip on the Bulgarians. CSKA made it into the group stage of the Europa League for the last time in the 2010/11 season – well before the forced descent. Last season, the Bulgarian top club was able to prevail in the second qualifying round of the European League against Admira Wacker, before there was no way around in the third round at FC Copenhagen. This season, the group stage is again the chosen goal. The goals are to achieve the Scottish new signing Tony Watt, who once shot Celtic in the Champions League against the great Barcelona to victory.
Titograd:
Only three months was the Austrian Peter Pacult coach in the Montenegrin capital Podgorica at OFK Titograd. Despite fourth place and the thus achieved participation in the Europa League qualification (but 17 points behind Master Sutjeska), the 59-year-old had to take his hat off not even a month ago. Thus ended Pacults fifth employment in the Balkans prematurely. Successor is the Montenegrin Dragoljub Djuretic. He became familiar with the Herculean task of surviving the first qualifying round. According to the bookmakers, a delicate challenge, because between CSKA Sofia and Titograd the quotas speak clearly for a failure of the Montenegrins.
European Cup qualifiers are not an absolute new territory for the capital club. Due to the very successful last few years, Titograd participates in this season for the eighth time in a qualification for a UEFA competition. Only once it went into the third qualifying round – 2013 was there final stop against Sevilla. Last season, Titograd already failed in round one at B36 Tórshavn from the Faroe Islands. Again, it is unlikely that the club from Podgorica will remain in competition for a long time. At CSKA Sofia vs. Titograd is our tip: Under 3.5 goals. At the national level, OFK celebrated the so far only championship in 2016. In 2015 and 2018, the win of the Montenegrin Cup was celebrated.
