Tottenham vs Watford Prediction & Betting tips
Mauricio Pochettino is under pressure at Tottenham Hotspur. On Saturday afternoon the Argentinian team will take on Watford with its team and only a victory counts for the Spurs. Watford is at the bottom of the Premier League, so this is an ideal time for Tottenham to regain some confidence.
Tottenham Hotspur:
It is of course ridiculous that football clubs are firing their trainers every day. You can say whatever you want but at Tottenham Hotspur they keep faith in Pochettino, who lost four of his last five games with the Spurs and is still under contract with the club from North London. Moreover, the defeats have not been tender in recent times at the Spurs, who lost 2-7 to Bayern Munich and 3-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion.
The defeats against the top club from Germany and the seaside club from England both came about in the week before the international match. On Tuesday evening, the Spurs first lost in the Champions League of Bayern Munich, and three days later Tottenham also lost a chance to visit Brighton. Hugo Lloris was also seriously injured against Brighton and due to his elbow injury, Michel Vorm was contracted by Tottenham this week and more importantly, Paulo Gazzaniga is replacing the Frenchman under the bar in the coming months.
Pochettino has to take three points on Saturday when Watford is a guest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, because otherwise it might just be the case that the Argentinian may soon arrive at the office of chairman Daniel Levy. If Pochettino had been under contract not at Tottenham but at Watford, he would have been on the street a long time ago – with the Pozzo family, the owner of Watford, the trainers would have fallen by the wayside in recent years. Fortunately at the Spurs they seem to realize that a trainer is just as good as his material.
Watford:
Watford was the first Premier League-team to fire a coach this season: Javi Gracia was allowed to leave for Quique Sánchez Flores last month. However, Watford has not made much progress, as Sánchez Flores only managed to score two points in four Premier League games. The current manager managed to book Watford last month with the first victory of the season, because on 24 September The Hornets in the Carabao Cup were 2-1 too strong for Swansea City.
Watford, however, did not win a single match in a competition. The Hornets are in last place in the Premier League and took only three points. At the moment, Watford has already built up four points behind the teams above the relegation line, and I can hardly imagine that Sánchez Flores will soon turn the tide at The Hornets. Watford has a selection on paper that it must be able to maintain. However, there is no confidence in Watford, which last season finished eleventh in the Premier League and even reached the FA Cup final.
