Montpellier vs Metz Prediction & Betting tips
Metz reduced the gap with Montpellier, the number five in the ranking, to seven points last weekend. Will the team of Vincent Hognon reduce the difference in the ranking on Wednesday evening to four points?
Montpellier:
The players of Montpellier will certainly want to forget the week that is behind them. Last Tuesday, Michel Der Zakarian’s team was eliminated in the eighth finals of the Coupe de France by fourth-division team ASM Belfort and last weekend a visit to Paris Saint-Germain suffered a 5-0 defeat. After just over fifteen minutes, the game seemed decided when goalkeeper Dimitry Bertaud hit the ball with his arm outside the penalty area and had to leave the field. With ten men, La Paillade was barely in the game and the Der Zakarian team was happy that it ‘only’ remained 5-0.
In the last two games, Montpellier struck a muddy figure, but in their own Stade de la Mosson, the team of Der Zakarian generally performs a lot better. This season, Montpellier already took 25 points out of eleven games and with that, La Paillade only outperforms PSG and Lille in-house. Only two home games were lost this season by Montpellier and, moreover, the team of Der Zakarian also failed to score in only two home games. The Stade de la Mosson certainly seems to be talking about a home advantage, but that does not alter the fact that the current form of Montpellier does not seem to be too good.
Metz:
This season Metz performs mixedly and has won more than once against the proportions and that was also the case last Sunday in the home match against AS Saint-Étienne. Les Grenats jumped a lot more effectively in their own house with their chances than the record champion of France and as a result the champion of the Ligue 2 of last season managed to win 3-1 against the odds ratio. With the third win in a row, Vincent Hognon’s team has now risen to sixteenth place, with a seven-point lead over the relegation line and only two points behind the number fourteen in the rankings, fellow PhD student Stade Brestois.
The profit of Metz on AS Saint-Étienne was largely due to Opa Nguette. The 25-year-old attacker is in the shadow of club top scorer Habibou Diallo, just like last season, but nevertheless managed to give his team a point twice and last Sunday with two goals and an assist even the win. The Senegalese is almost always sure of a base spot on the right flank this season in the league, but so far his return with two goals and one assist was not to write home about. By doubling his season total last weekend, Nguette will undoubtedly have boosted his confidence, but will he finally manage to score in an away game again this weekend?
