Metz vs Lorient Prediction & Betting tips
The game between Metz and Lorient can rightly be called a basement cracker, as both teams have collected only four points in five games so far.
Metz:
With three defeats in the first three matches of the season, the start of Metz was downright dramatic, but Vincent Hognon’s team is now gathering points. Two weeks ago, Stade de Reims was beaten 2-1 and last weekend a 1-1 draw was made against Olympique Marseille. With a goal from Ibrahima Niané in the final phase, les Grenats seemed to take the win against the proportions, but deep in injury time goalkeeper Alexandre Oukidja was still passed, leaving Metz only one point to meet with the Marseilans.
Last weekend Ibrahima Niané was again the big man on the side of Les Grenats with his goal. The Senegalese striker has scored three goals in his last two games, scoring just as often as in 21 games last season. The biggest victim of Niané’s good form is Senegalese striker Habibou Diallo, who scored twelve hits last season, but never hit a target this season and seems to have lost his starting spot to his fellow countryman.
Lorient:
After three defeats in a row, PhD candidate Lorient finally achieved another success last weekend by drawing 1-1 at home against Olympique Lyonnais. However, the result was not a good representation of the proportions on the field, because with only 31% ball possession and four goal attempts, the PhD student was clearly the underlying party. The good result was therefore not due to good own play, but to fumbling and a lack of accuracy at Olympique Lyonnais.
Yoane Wissa, who scored fifteen times in 28 matches in Ligue 2 last season, is the big man at Lorient with three hits in the first five league matches. It is remarkable that the French striker scored all his hits in his own stadium, while last season he was especially effective in away games. It is to be hoped for Christophe Pélissier that Wissa or one of his teammates will also score in away games.
