Monaco vs Montpellier Prediction & Betting tips
AS Monaco and Montpellier both fell in the last round of play before the international break. Which team is best able to take revenge this weekend?
Monaco:
With ten points from the first six rounds of play, AS Monaco has certainly not started the new season badly, but the results in the weeks before the international break left something to be desired. Nameljik was only beaten 3-2 against low flyer RC Strasbourg in the last three rounds, while defeats were also suffered against Stade Rennais and Stade Brestois. Nevertheless, the Monegasken are still in a neat shared fifth place, only three points behind the top three.
On the offensive, things are still sometimes a bit difficult for Niko Kovac’s team this season, but especially in the defensive area, the Monegasken seem to be able to make sufficient profit. In six games, eight goals have already been conceded, making Kovac’s team one of the ten teams with the worst defense. The Monegasken would do well to take quick steps in the defensive area, for example by receiving red cards less often, because a very tough program awaits in the coming weeks, including games against Olympique Lyonnais, Olympique Nice, Girondins de Bordeaux and Paris Saint- Germain.
Montpellier:
With three victories in the first four rounds of play, Montpellier started the new season excellently, but in the last two rounds of play before the international break, Michel Der Zakarian’s team dropped the necessary points. First there was a 2-2 draw at the bottom of the league, Dijon, after which two weeks ago they lost 1-0 at home to mid-engine NĂ®mes Olympique. Due to the two bad results in a row, la Paillade has missed the opportunity of the provisional lead and the Der Zakarian team is still in a decent fifth place for the time being.
On the offensive, la Paillade is still one of the strongest performing teams in Ligue 1. In total, Der Zakarian’s team has already scored twelve times in six games, so on average no fewer than two goals per game. That is a significant improvement compared to last season, when la Paillade scored an average of 1.25 goal per game. Defensive, on the other hand, the performances are slightly less than last season, but that is not surprising given the fact that the focus is clearly more on the forefront this season.
