Barcelona vs Ferencvaros Prediction & Betting tips
FC Barcelona hopes to immediately win its first group match in this brand new edition of the Champions League, when the Catalans are visited by Ferencvaros on Tuesday evening in their own Camp Nou. The visitors from Hungary are again present at the European ball of millions for the first time in 25 years, and of course have nothing to lose against Lionel Messi and his associates.
Barcelona:
FC Barcelona will finally get the chance to brush up on last season’s dramatic 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday evening. It was the first time since 1946 that the Catalans had eight goals against in a match, after which the position of then head coach Quique Setien had of course become untenable.
Ronald Koeman is now at the helm of FC Barcelona. Under his leadership, confidence in its own abilities is back at Camp Nou, although the Blaugrana suffered a painful 1-0 defeat at Getafe last weekend. The Catalans are therefore looking for rehabilitation against Ferencvaros, also to refuel in the run-up to El Clasico against Real Madrid this weekend. So there is a good chance that Koeman will rotate a bit on Tuesday evening with a view to that cracker. Ansu Fati and Philippe Coutinho both started on the bench last weekend, so they will almost certainly return to the Catalan starting eleven. Lionel Messi played the full ninety minutes, so it could well be that Koeman gives him a rest or takes him to the side prematurely.
Ferencvaros:
For Ferencvaros, the season can no longer go wrong. The Hungarians managed to survive no fewer than four preliminary rounds with Djurgarden, Celtic, Dinamo Zagreb and Molde as opponents, which means that they will be back in the Champions League for the first time since the 1995-1996 season. With this they secured a large bag of money and prestigious top matches against FC Barcelona and Juventus. In this Group of Death, wintering in the Champions League seems almost impossible, but with a bit of luck De Groene Adelaars will be able to outdo Dynamo Kiev in the battle for third place.
In any case, Ferencvaros is doing well, as Sergiy Rebrov’s team is still unbeaten this season. That good form will give confidence to the Hungarian leader, although FC Barcelona is of course of a different caliber than the opponents that normally hit the green and white. A lack of experience could also be a problem for the visitors, because with Robert Mak and Oleksandr Zubkov, Rebrov only has two players with Champions League experience.
