Achilles Veen vs Roda Prediction & Betting tips
After a resounding victory over Roda JC, Roda travels to North-West Brabant, where Achilles Veen is the opponent. The Dutch big league has previously dealt with higher ranked teams, so the Limburgers have been warned.
Achilles Veen:
Achilles Veen comes from the Brabant village of the same name, Veen, in the land of Heusden and Altena, on the border with Gelderland. The village has only 2800 inhabitants and Achilles is the footballing pride of the community. The team plays in the big league A, the fifth Dutch level and thus crosses the swords with a team that plays three divisions higher. Achilles is in fifth place in the big league A, with four points behind leader AZSV from Aalten. Incidentally, the former professional club Achilles ’29 is in last place in the same class.
Together with Maarten Boddaert, the selection of Achilles houses a well-known former prof. Between 2008 and 2016 he played no less than 177 games in the Jupiler League for RBC Roosendaal and FC Den Bosch. In addition, defender Vincent van Hoof played two games for RKC Waalwijk years ago. The trainer is also an old acquaintance. Former goalkeeper John Karelse played nearly 400 games for NAC in his career and was there as a coach for the group between 2010 and 2012.
Achilles reached the 32nd final of the KNVB Cup by settling with Third Divisionist USV Hercules and Second Divisionist HHC Hardenberg (after penalties). Achilles Veen therefore knows what it’s like to stunt a higher ranked team.
Roda JC:
Where Roda was talking about football again in recent weeks, it was announced this weekend that the club is once again in acute need. At the beginning of October, pseudo-investor Maurico de la Vega stepped back and announced that catering entrepreneur Ronald Hogenelst announced the acquisition of the club’s shares. He withdrew this weekend, however, because the club management did not want to meet his desire to clean up on an administrative level. Roda is supposed to hand in a balanced budget on Monday, October 29, which means that there is nothing else to do than request a postponement and hope that the team will not again be punished with three negatives.
The disappointment happens at a time when the sporting results of the team are on the rise. The team of trainer Jean-Paul de Jong only lost one of her last eight league games and managed to beat title candidate NAC Breda last Friday. The Parkstad Limburg Stadium won 4-2 thanks to hits from Roland Alberg (2x), Niels Verburgh and Ba-Muaky Simakala. The Limburgers rose to eleventh place in the ranking because of the three points.
