Ajax vs Valencia Prediction & Betting tips
On Tuesday evening Ajax will go for the wintering in the Champions League, when the Dutch top club will compete against Valencia in Spain in its own Johan Cruijff Arena. A draw from Amsterdam is enough for a place in the last sixteen of the European million ball, while the Spaniards will most likely only benefit from a victory.
Ajax:
Ajax is leading with ten points in Group H of the Champions League, but are still not assured of wintering in the European champions ball. The team from Amsterdam must get home at least one draw against Valencia on Tuesday evening to join the best sixteen clubs in Europe. In the event of a defeat, however, it becomes sweaty, because then the red-and-white will only continue to the next round if the already eliminated Lille knows how to stunt at Chelsea.
However, trainer Erik ten Hag will not let that happen. This year again, he and his team are proving to be able to compete with the European elite, with the 0-3 victory over Valencia and the spectacular 4-4 draw against Chelsea on Stamford Bridge as provisional highlights. Last weekend, however, the team from Amsterdam received a wake-up call, after being surprised by Willem II in their own Johan Cruijff Arena with 0-2. ‘Ajax must win every match. This was not good, but we know why it was not good, “captain Dusan Tadic told De Telegraaf. “We played at eighty percent because we were already too busy with next Tuesday’s game.”
Losing is of course never fun, but perhaps this defeat came at the right time for Ajax. After all, in the Eredivisie the capitals still have a large lead over the competition, while they were again reminded that it does not always happen automatically. It also promises to be a tough game again on Tuesday evening, partly because Ten Hag may not have a few strongholds. Andre Onana and Quincy Promes are both doubtful cases, while Zakaria Labyad and David Neres no longer take action this calendar year. Daley Blind and Joël Veltman are available again after a European suspension.
Valencia:
Valencia currently occupies second place in group H, but could well be the child of the bill in the fierce battle for one of the two tickets to reach the next round. To bring about the wintering in the Champions League, the Spaniards must match the result of Chelsea, who will compete in her last group match in-house against Lille, which has already been eliminated.
Realistically, Valencia only needs one win on Tuesday evening to qualify for the eighth finals of the Champions League. That will be a tough job, because in October the team of coach Albert Celades against Ajax in their own Mestalla with a 0-3 defeat to see all corners of the field. In addition, the current number eight of La Liga with Cristiano Piccini, Goncalo Guedes and Geoffrey Kondogbia must miss several key players, while former Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen will most likely have to let go. The orange city club, however, can rely on the spectacular city derby against arch-rival Levante last weekend, in which Los Che managed to reverse a 2-0 deficit in a 2-4 win. Celades was naturally delighted: ‘To fight back after a 2-0 deficit, you have to come from a good family. My players are cut out of the right wood. ”
