Albania vs Iceland Prediction & Betting tips
In Group G of the current European Championship qualifier, a thrilling three-way battle for the two tickets is emerging. Both the reigning World Champion from France and the teams from Turkey and Iceland have twelve points on the credit side after five out of ten games.
A team from this trio will end up empty-handed. At the end of the September double there is no direct duel on the program. Iceland has the hardest task to tackle. In Elbasan on Tuesday there will be a duel between Albania and Iceland.
The Albanians, represented at the European Championship 2016 for the first time at a major event, were able to win the two games against the latecomers Moldova and Andorra, but had to give in the games against the three teams at the top, however, beaten. With six points behind the leading trio, the European Championship chances are only theoretical. The game starts on Tuesday at 19:45.
Albania:
The biggest scandal in this international break was not on the pitch or on the stands, but on the speakers. In the home match between France and Albania, the hosts made a double faux pas. First, the anthem was played by Andorra instead of those of Albania, before the stadium announcer apologized to the Armenian (!) Fans for the mishap.
Only seven minutes late, the game could be started, because the Albanian players insisted that their anthem is still playing. There was no order for Albania due to a towering Kingsley Coman.
For the Italian head coach Edoardo Reja it was thus in the third international match already the second defeat. Albania has a penchant for Italian coaches, Reja is already the third Italian in series, which looks after Albania. However, the Albanian legionnaire team – all players earn their money abroad – has not lived up to expectations since the European Championship.
The home strength of bygone days has recently lost Albania a little. Victory and defeat alternated regularly in the last games. In the last home game, there was a 2-0 win against Moldova. According to the law of the series, between Albania and Iceland, the prognosis for winning a guest is the right choice.
In addition, there have been at most two goals in five of the last six Albanian home games.
Iceland:
The high flying of the Icelandic national football team seems to find no end. After the outstanding performance at the 2016 European Championship and the passable World Cup last year, there was a brief slump in the Nations League (four defeats, just one goal), but with the start of the European Championship qualification, the “Huh Icelandic” back to the successful Time on.
The team of head coach Erik Hamren managed the turnaround and with four wins from five games the Northern Europeans are allowed to dream of the third major event in series. Four of the five goals came in the away game against France. Due to this defensive strength, scores of goals do not have to be scored on offense either.
Iceland were able to celebrate their third home win in their qualifying campaign against Moldova on Saturday night. Iceland have won their last eight games in front of their home crowd and have not lost a qualifier since June 2013 (2-4 against Slovenia).
There is no doubt that Iceland is a little weaker abroad. However, in the last six away games, they lost only against Belgium and France.
The team around Gylfi Sigurdsson is qualified to settle considering the home game not far beyond Albania, but due to the compact appearance and the current form justifiably easily in the role of favorites.
