Andorra vs Turkey Prediction & Betting tips
In the last round in group H of the European Championship qualification, Turkey will visit football dwarf Andorra. Turkey does not have to fear Sunday night for a potential banana skin, as the country has been assured of participating in next year’s European Championship since Thursday.
Andorra:
Andorra also functioned as an extra for this European Championship qualifying series. The mini-state from the Pyrenees was not even doing too badly for her – it won her first victory in a European Championship qualifying match and won a 2-2 draw a few days ago on a visit to Albania – but of course it didn’t come in for a moment near a starting ticket for next year’s European Championship. Perhaps this will change in the future. At the end of last year FC Barcelona defender Gerard Pique took over the local club FC Andorra and immediately paid a hefty amount of money to be active in the Segunda B, the third level of Spain from next season.
However, it is not nearly that far yet, because for the time being, national coach Koldo Alvarez must be content with mainly amateurs who still have a job during the day. The face of the Andorran football team is captain and record international Ildefons Lima (127 international matches), who still likes to hit a ball at the age of 39. The man has had a good career with, among others, the Mexican Pachuca and the Spanish Rayo Vallecano, but has been active in his own country again since 2012. Other key players are midfielders Marc Pujol (84 caps) and Cristian Martinez (58 caps), who could never go far from home because of their job as a teacher.
Turkey:
Throughout Turkey, the flag is hanging out because last Thursday’s scoreless draw at home against Iceland was enough for Ay-Yıldızlılar to secure her European Championship ticket for good. “It was as if we were nine months pregnant and the baby is now born,” said a beaming national coach Senol Günes. “We have achieved our goal, but now we have to take good care of this baby and have it developed properly.”
Turkey has indeed had an impressive European Championship qualifying series and, in particular in the two games against France (home: 2-0, from: 1-1), it was clear that nobody should be afraid. With a bit of luck, the Turks can even become a group winner, because the gap with the French is only two points. However, Günes seems to believe it and with Emre Belozoglu, Burak Yilmaz, Mahmut Tekdemir, Cenk Tosun, Cengiz Ünder, Efecan Karaca, Caglar Söyüncü, Irfan Kahveci and Mert Günok have allowed no fewer than nine players to leave the Turkish camp early. Ahmed Kutucu, Berkay Ozcan, Guven Yalcin and Mert Muldur were transferred to the A-selection from Young Turkey and can therefore hope for their debut against Andorra.
