Argentina vs Mexico Prediction & Betting tips
Argentina and Mexico play together twice on Friday and Tuesday night on Argentine soil. Both countries must put it without a large number of experienced players. Which team will attract the best new players?
Argentina:
The qualifying series for the Copa America has not yet started and therefore Argentina will only play friendly matches until the start of 2019. This offers the opportunity to experiment with the playing style and give new players a chance. The interim national coach Lionel Scaloni therefore likes to make use of this possibility by leaving a large number of players at home. For example, Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuaín, Angel Di Maria, Ever Banega, Marcos Rojo and Nicolas Otamendi will not play in the double meeting.
In addition, Eduardo Salvio, Manuel Lanzini, Cristian Pavon and Rodrigo Battaglia were injured and Gonzalo Martinez and Enzo Perez were released with a view to the final of the Copa Libertadores. This means that captain and goalkeeper Sergio Romero is the only player in the current selection who has more than 25 international matches behind his name.
What remains, however, is still a strong team. The absence of Messi led to a call for Mauro Icardi, who together with Paolo Dybala will form the vanguard. Also well-known players like Angel Correa (Atletico Madrid), Franco Cervi (Benfica) and Francisco Vazquez (Sevilla) get the chance to play in the spotlight.
Mexico:
Like Argentina, Mexico will only play friendly matches in the coming months and, like its colleague Scaloni, Mexican coach Ricardo Ferretti uses this opportunity to experiment. A large number of regular names from the Mexican team will not take office against Argentina. Players like Hector Moreno, Hector Herrera, Andres Guardado, Giovani dos Santos, Javier Hernandez and Carlos Vela have combined almost 600 international matches.
Also PSV’er Hirving Lozano is not there. The attacker of PSV suffers from a hamstring injury and has to go missing, but it is expected that he will return soon. His team mate with the Eindhoven team, midfielder Erick Gutierrez, is there.
The majority of the Mexican selection is active in its own league, supplemented by a single experienced player who has been called, such as Raul Jimenez (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Marco Fabian (Eintracht Frankfurt), Guillermo Ochoa (Standart Liege), Miguel Layún (Celta de Vigo) and Diego Reyes (Fenerbahçe).
