Augsburg vs Stuttgart Prediction & Betting tips
VfB Stuttgart just can’t calm down these days. During the week, the power struggle between Thomas Hitzlsperger and Claus Vogt went into the next round. After a ceasefire announced, at least in the media, the fans, of all people, poured new fuel into the fire by taking a public letter on the side of the president and thus against the ex-professional.
In terms of sport, however, the Swabians are still doing very well. The result of 18 points after 14 match days is impressive and yet the really big momentum has recently been lost a little. With just one point from the last three games, the Matarazzo-Elf slipped to eleventh place in the Bundesliga table.
The Fuggerstädter are currently even one rank ahead of the promoted team and also celebrated a successful start to the year at 1-0 in Cologne the previous week. From the FCA’s point of view, it should also be mentioned positively that the meanwhile established first division club did not score as many points against any other team in the upper house as against the upcoming opponent.
Before the match Augsburg vs. VfB Stuttgart, a prognosis in the direction of the home side seems to contain a much more attractive value. You can find a detailed explanation of value bets and other common terms in betting jargon in our betting base advice section.
Augsburg :
At FC Augsburg it was time to breathe easy last weekend. Due to a lackluster 1-0 win at 1. FC Köln, the men of coach Heiko Herrlich increased their own points to 19 and can therefore start the coming weeks relatively relaxed. With currently nine points ahead of the relegation place and only five points behind the Europa League ranks, international business can even be quietly dreamed of.
In order to give this illusion a little nourishment, however, above all a better balance sheet in one’s own stadium is required. The FCA could not win any of the past four home games. The last home win dates from the end of October when Mainz 05 was defeated 3-1. Incidentally, it was one of only two home wins in the current Bundesliga season so far.
Another construction site is the often too harmless offensive. The meager 16 goals scored are only beaten by the weakest four teams in the ranking. In return, the only 19 conceded goals can absolutely be seen. In addition to the functioning defensive (two clean sheets in the last three matches), the historical record against VfB Stuttgart is also encouraging.
The Fuggerstadt team won five of the last six home games in the top German division against their Swabian opponents. Because the offensive style of play of the guests should play into the cards of the more compactly defending and counterattacking Herrlich-Elf, we consider a tip between Augsburg and VfB Stuttgart on the home win as the much more attractive betting option.
With Moravek, Jensen and Framberger, three players are still injured. Defender Gouweeleuw has to pass due to his fifth yellow card. Khedira could thus inevitably slip into the center of the chain of three. A back four is also conceivable. It is not yet clear whether Finnbogason will be considered for a squad nomination.
VfB Stuttgart :
It currently seems as if the bookmakers are still impressed by VfB Stuttgart’s 5-1 success at Borussia Dortmund in mid-December. In our opinion, there is hardly any other explanation for the fact that the newcomer is treated as a favorite on Sunday afternoon in the WWK Arena.
The fact is that the Swabians recently had no win in the Bundesliga three times in a row, they even failed to score twice in a row and thus fell back to eleventh place in the standings. In general, in the general and very positive reporting about the Matarazzo-Elf, the fact that the Stuttgarters – despite very respectable and modern football – only get four wins of the season.
In the end the lightness was lost somewhat. The teams adjust to the newcomer’s high-speed style of play from week to week, so that players like Wamangituka, Coulibaly or Gonzalez don’t have as many chances as they did in the old year. Whether it is just a small dent in the shape or the white and red slowly land on the hard ground of the facts, could be shown at the weekend.
Then Coach Matarazzo’s protégés want to continue their impressive away series and celebrate their fifth victory in the eighth guest game in 2020/21. Unlike, for example, at TSG Hoffenheim (3: 3) or in Dortmund (5: 1), where half of all away goals are scored, the young VfB team now has to deal with a low opponent. The sometimes outstanding achievements abroad should therefore hardly be used as a benchmark.
Changes compared to the harmless appearance from the previous week are likely. Gonzalez is a candidate for the starting XI, as is Daniel Didavi. Mavropanos could meanwhile replace Stenzel. The injured Al Ghaddioui, Thommy, Mola and Awoudja are definitely not available.
