Barcelona vs Celta Vigo Prediction & Betting tips
Leader FC Barcelona is rolling over just about every opponent this season. The Catalans hope to tie the mid-engine Celta de Vigo to the triumphal car on Saturday afternoon.
Barcelona :
Who can stop this FC Barcelona on the way to the national title? The season is still long, but for the time being, the Catalans are the boss with eleven wins and two draws in thirteen rounds. Last weekend the Blaugrana did have two points when they visited Valencia (1-1), but the star formation of Ernesto Valverde might play her best game of the season. Especially the first half was to be feasted. FC Barcelona was by far the parent, but the visitors were unlucky that Lionel Messi’s goal was not awarded. The Catalans were rightly furious afterwards, because the ball had completely passed the goal line. During the closing press talk, Andres Iniesta and trainer Ernesto Valverde kept a low profile, but once they were out of the picture, they made it feel like they were being robbed.
Those two missed points may be very expensive at the end of the season, but now there is nothing left to do. Anyway, we can say that Valverde has his team on the rails. Messi recently indicated that the departure of Neymar did the team well, because there is now more balance. There is indeed no pinch in that, because with only five countergains, Barça has a very solid rear. The only weak spot is right back. Even against Valencia, right back Nelson Semedo had a tough time and was eventually replaced by Aleix Vidal. It is for Valverde to hope that Sergi Roberto is fit quickly. Furthermore, Luis Suarez is still searching for his form. He was whizled six times against Valencia for offside. The Uruguayan was out-of-play 23 times this season, by far the most of all players in the five major European leagues.
Celta Vigo :
With a ninth place, Celta de Vigo is doing very well this season. You can not expect much more from trainer Juan Carlos Unzue with this player material. With Maxi Gomez and Iago Aspas he has a fine attack pair, but in the back the blue shirts regularly drop a stitch. Maxi Gomez made the switch to the Balaidos this summer, but the Uruguayan can now count on Chinese interest with his six goals in his first twelve appearances. The chance of an early departure is therefore present, particularly because he could earn a multiple of his Spanish salary in the Far East.
From an attacking point of view, it is good with Celta de Vigo, but the rearguard can use some extra attention. This weekend it will be completely puzzling for Unzue, as left back Jonny Castro is out of suspension. Probably the coach opts for center defender Facundo Roncaglia as an occasional left back, although Diego Pampin is also an option. The latter, however, is only seventeen years old, so it would be quite a risk to throw him in the Camp Nou for the lions. If he would receive a lot of support from his co-defenders, it might still be possible, but they usually have trouble staying on their feet themselves. It’s not for nothing that Celta de Vigo got nineteen opponents this season, although the team managed to keep the nil on Tuesday-evening in the 1-0 cup victory over Eibar. Thanks to this result, the Galicians are now preparing for the next round of the Copa del Rey.
