Barcelona vs Granada CF Prediction & Betting tips
FC Barcelona will have the chance to take over the lead from LaLiga for the first time this season on Thursday evening, if the Catalans manage to leave mid-engine Granada aside. Ronald Koeman’s men are in good shape, and are therefore the big favorite in their own Camp Nou.
Barcelona:
Is FC Barcelona going to grab the Spanish national title this season? If it is up to the bookmakers, they are, because with only six rounds of play to go, they unanimously see the Catalan football giant with 1.50 as the highest available odd as the main title contender. That may well be called a miracle, because on New Year’s Day the odd was still at a hefty 10.00 for a Catalan national championship. At the time, FC Barcelona was in an embarrassing sixth place in LaLiga, and a few days before that was stuck on their own field on a 1-1 draw against current last player Eibar.
How different the situation is now. Ronald Koeman has got his team swinging again, with Lionel Messi and Frenkie de Jong as the protagonists. With the Copa del Rey, the Blaugrana have already received their first trophy of the season, but that certainly does not satisfy their price hunger. On Thursday-evening, they can take the lead in LaLiga for the first time this season, after Atletico Madrid surprisingly lost 2-1 at Athletic Bilbao last weekend. The Catalans will not want to miss that opportunity.
Granada:
Granada mainly caused a furore in the Europa League this season, reaching the quarter finals of Europe’s second most important club tournament as a European debutant. Earlier this month, however, the Andalusians had to bow twice to Manchester United, which clearly turned out to be a size too big for Diego Martinez’s men. The advantage of this elimination is that Granada can now fully focus on LaLiga again. That is desperately needed, because with a provisional eighth place, Los Nazaries are in danger of missing the European boat. Granada will therefore have to climb at least one place to get a starting ticket for the brand new Conference League, but the gap on number seven Villarreal is a hefty seven points.
To make matters worse, Granada is struggling with a laundry list of absentees in this decisive phase of the season. Key players such as Angel Montoro, Rui Silva, Luis Milla and Antonio Puertas have to be absent in any case, while the playing of routiners Roberto Soldado and German Sanchez is also uncertain.
