Basaksehir vs Paris SG Prediction & Betting tips
Istanbul Basaksehir will face the difficult task on Wednesday to take on Paris Saint-Germain, the losing finalist of the previous edition of the Champions League.
Istanbul Basaksehir:
Istanbul Basaksehir took a good look at the championship of Turkey last year, but that high form is not yet present in the new season. In the Süper Lig, Okan Buruk’s team had a bad start, with a lot of points loss. And in Europe things didn’t suddenly get much better. Last week Basaksehir played his first group match in the Champions League. The Turks were nowhere near the number three of the previous Bundesliga. The final score was 2-0, but in fact Basaksehir had no chance at RB Leipzig.
The Turkish national champion was therefore not included in the draw, in a group that also includes Manchester United. For the (not very many) fans there was a small starting point last weekend. In the Süper Lig, Antalyaspor, for which good-old Lukas Podolski scored, was defeated 5-1. Coach Buruk will want to build on that successful match, although changes to the starting eleven are always possible.
Paris Saint-Germain:
Paris Saint-Germain is of course last season’s losing finalist. Year after year, the French superpower was eliminated early in the knockout phase, but last season went better. Only in the final they turned out not to be good enough to beat Bayern Munich (0-1). The final place of course tasted good, and this season the Parisians want to win the big tournament. The challenges for the club from the French capital are also much more in Europe than within its own borders. In France, PSG is lord and master.
After a poor start in Ligue 1, Paris has now put things in order. Last weekend, another smooth win was added to the subtotal. With Mitchel Bakker in the starting line-up, Dijon was sent home 4-0. Bakker was a successful declarant in that game once, but the young left back will probably move back to the bank on Wednesday. Layvin Kurzawa will probably start at that position.
