BATE vs Rukh Brest Prediction & Betting tips
In Belarus, the clocks tick a little different these days. This is by no means related to the fact that it is the only European country where football is still played, but also that there were countless surprises in the Vysshaya League on the first two match days.
In the 2019 championship, BATE Borissov only suffered four losses. After two games in the new season, the runner-up has already reached half of the previous year’s bankruptcies. On the third matchday, the first home game of the still young season is on the program. BATE Borissov receives Rukh Brest.
Due to the two defeats at the start, the pressure on new coach Kirill Alshevskiy is already high. A third defeat would probably result in the first coaching discussion early on. When looking at the betting base odds comparison it can be seen that vice champion BATE Borissov against Rukh Brest is viewed as a big favorite according to current odds for a tip.
The game in the Borisov Arena will start on Saturday afternoon at 15:30 p.m.
BATE Borissov:
The 15-time Belarusian champion is by far the most famous football club in the country with just under 9.5 million inhabitants. BATE Borissov has been in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League several times and has always been a surprise. However, the last participation was a little earlier – in autumn 2012.
The UEFA Europa League group stage has been the maximum of emotions in recent years. In the fall of 2019, the Belarusians (who failed at Arsenal in the intermediate round in 2018/19) had to cut sail in qualifying. The early end on the international stage and the missed title defense (for the first time after five titles in a row) caused the separation from head coach Aleksey Bega.
The successor was quickly found, after all those responsible found it in their own ranks. Kirill Alshevskiy was previously responsible for the second team of the 15-time champion and was promoted to head coach. Despite his only 38 years, he can look back on a long vita, after all his coaching career began in 2006 with the U19 from BATE Borissov.
After several positions at BATE Borissov and also with competitors (including Dinamo Minsk) or the youth teams, he now holds the post at his heart club. With two wins against his former club Dinamo Minsk in the cup quarter-finals, a debut made to measure.
However, these two victories were followed by two bitter disappointments. It was a completely surprising defeat against the two previous promoters Energetik-BGU (previous year-12th) and Slavia (previous year-8th). Two games, zero points – a bad start. In the first home game of the new season, a win is a must.
In 2019, the Belarusian top club had a convincing home record in the form of twelve wins, one draw and two losses. There were just ten goals conceded (against 34 goals). A clear victory is also possible and is a lucrative betting option. Alshevskiy has to give up goalkeeper Denis Shcherbitski again due to injury.
Rukh Brest:
Have you never heard of the Rukh Brest association? They are certainly not alone in this; after all, it is a club whose club history means that a few lines on a DIN A4 sheet are sufficient. It wasn’t until 2016 that the Rukh Brest was founded as an amateur club. Two years later, the club went the professional way and was treated by the current champion Dinamo Brest as a farm team.
With the support of the local partner, the almost impossible was achieved in the first year. After 28 game days in the second-rate Pershaja Liga, the club ranked third (15 wins, eleven draws, two losses) and fought for a play-off game with Dnyapro Mogilev. In a dramatic knockout duel it went to the penalty shootout after the return leg, in which the underdog had the better end and celebrated the first promotion to the highest Belarusian league.
As a result of the success, the partnership with Dinamo Brest had to be dissolved after only twelve months. As a farm team, an ascent would not have been possible, since a few weeks the club has been operating as an independent association. The obvious goal in the first year is to put the relegation battle aside as quickly as possible.
Rukh Brest is also the great unknown for many experts in his own country. However, the opening game at capital city club Dinamo Minsk was a sign that the team should not be underestimated. Thanks to a goal from central defender Oleksiy Kovtun, the debut ended with a surprising 1-0 win. In the first home game last weekend, however, it is the first loss against Energetik-BGU.
The two games have shown that not much spectacle can be expected from the promoted team. The almost newly formed team – there was a lot of coming and going during the transfer period – is extremely deep and tries to succeed by counterattack. The share of the game will be extremely low for the big favorites. In our opinion, between BATE Borissov and Rukh Brest, a forecast towards the guests is not a serious option.
