Bournemouth vs Manchester City Prediction & Betting tips
Bournemouth lost 5-1 to Arsenal on Wednesday-evening. For the team of Eddie Howe this weekend the home match with Manchester City is on the program. In short: The Cherries is waiting another difficult afternoon.
AFC Bournemouth:
For Bournemouth the match with Manchester City is not at the ideal moment. Far from even. The Cherries lost three of the last four games and are normally without a chance against Manchester City. It should be noted that Bournemouth lost all three matches outside their own Vitality Stadium and that The Cherries took points in their own home against West Ham United (2-0 win), Chelsea (4-0 win) and Wolverhampton Wanderers (1-1). Of the 34 points that Bournemouth has collected this season in the Premier League, no less than 29 were caught in-house. If The Cherries were to grab some more points out of the country than they could have been left in the left row. However, Bournemouth is currently satisfied with the twelfth place.
Bournemouth had lost the away games at Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool earlier this season. On Wednesday night the last game against a top club was on the program and The Cherries also went down at Arsenal: 5-1. The fact that Bournemouth had to collect no less than five hits at the Emirates Stadium had to thank The Cherries entirely to themselves; defensively Bournemouth looked very bad. The question is how many goals will Bournemouth then collect when Manchester City visits the Vitality Stadium, because The Citizens are a few classes better than Arsenal.
Manchester City:
Manchester City still has to do with the second place in the Premier League. The Citizens are one point behind leader Liverpool and it is a difficult task for Manchester City to close that gap. Of course, both Liverpool and Manchester City play some top matches in the Premier League, but I do not expect Liverpool to lose many points. The same goes for Manchester City, of course, that with Tottenham Hotspur-home and Manchester United-out, two more squatters are playing in the Premier League. In all other competitions, Pep Guardiola’s formation can not lose any points and it is hoped for The Citizens that Liverpool will lose some points along the way.
Where Liverpool this week easily won 5-1 from Watford there, Manchester City had a lot more trouble with West Ham United. The Citizens stepped off the pitch with a 1-0 victory and with that result Guardiola was not satisfied. The Spaniard is right, because in his own Etihad Stadium, Manchester City could have scored much more against The Hammers. The only goal of the game was Sergio Agüero from the penalty spot and the Argentinian was under Guardiola at least 74 goals in 80 Premier League-games. It must therefore be extremely frustrating for Gabriel Jesus who would have been a basic player at a club like Chelsea. At Manchester City, however, the Brazilian is nothing more than stand-in for Agüero. It is likely that Guardiola will choose to give Agüero rest and that means that Sterling is most likely to function as an opportunity in the Vitality Stadium. The playing of Jesus is still doubtful and Guardiola will not start him from the kick-off anyway.
