Brazil vs Paraguay Prediction & Betting tips
In the quarterfinals of the Copa America, Brazil takes on Paraguay in the night from Thursday to Friday. The Brazilians are of course the towering favorite, although Paraguay is a notorious fear gegner.
Brazil:
As expected, Brazil qualified as a group winner for the quarter-finals, but the Divine Canaries only really managed to convince for the first time in their last group match. Poor Peru was put on the slaughterhouse with no less than 5-0, so that the Brazilians are now working towards the quarter finals full of confidence, something that had been missing for a long time.
Brazil will need that self-confidence in the quarterfinals, because the country has bad memories of its previous encounters with Paraguay. At the 2011 and 2015 Copa America’s, Brazil was eliminated by its neighbor in the quarterfinals, both times after a penalty shootout. Brazil will therefore want to prevent these quarterfinals from once again ending in penalties. National coach Tite cannot have crowbar Casemiro against Paraguay, who grabbed his second yellow card of the tournament against Peru and therefore served a suspension. Tite lost in the three years that he may call himself national coach of Brazil although two international matches, but that was both times without Casemiro on the field. However, it seems that the intended replacement Fernandinho will get fit just in time to take over his position. At the forefront, Everton will probably keep Ajax striker David Neres out of the baseline again. Everton was the big seasoning against Peru and managed to make the absent Neymar forget.
Paraguay:
Paraguay went down 1-0 in its last group match against already placed Colombia, although that defeat was ultimately without major consequences. Los Guaranies were lucky with the results on other fields and, despite only two points from three group matches, joined the last eight countries in the Copa America. Now, however, the confrontation with the dyed-in title favorite Brazil awaits. The last two mutual encounters in Copa America, however, give Paraguay much needed hope for a successful outcome.
Paraguay did not win this Copa America yet, and is obviously also the clear underdog against Brazil. National coach Eduardo Berizzo is likely to keep many players behind the ball, although according to living legend Jose Luis Chilavert, the country should not be afraid: ‘We have to put pressure and be on top of it. We have to let Brazil gasp. ” With the creativity of Miguel Almiron and the speed of Derlis Gonzalez, Paraguay has the weapons to hurt Brazil on the counter.
