Brighton vs Crystal Palace Prediction & Betting tips
There is another midweek round on the program and Brighton & Hove Albion will play the home game against Crystal Palace. Especially for Crystal Palace this is actually a must-win.
Brighton :
Brighton & Hove Albion is in ninth place in the Premier League. Not often do we see a PhD student perform as well as Brighton, but Brighton plays football as if it has been participating at this level for years. Of course it is easier for teams who have just received their PhD to profile themselves in the Premier League, because not everyone knows what to expect from a PhD student. But you still have to flick it, and Brighton does that with fervor.
Last weekend, Brighton was 1-0 down at Manchester United, but there was more resident for The Seagulls. A shot from Ashley Young turned goalkeeper Mat Ryan ultimately too powerful, but Brighton was relatively easy to maintain and was certainly entitled to a point. In the first half, Brighton’s attack embarrassed United’s defenses a few times, but the only thing missing at Brighton was scoring power.
That is not the first time either; Brighton is not the most scoring team in the Premier League. Up to now, Brighton has scored thirteen goals in as many matches. The strength of Brighton lies mainly in the interaction between defense and attack, because Brighton has so far only processed thirteen goals against. No PhD student received as few goals as Brighton, so it is clear where the qualities of Brighton really are.
Crystal Palace:
Crystal Palace still stands at the bottom of the Premier League, but the situation has become somewhat less hopeless. The Eagles have managed to get eight points out of thirteen matches. The deficit at number seventeen West Bromwich Albion is only three points, so with a victory in theory the gap could be bridged at once.
Last weekend Palace played the home game against Stoke City and Palace did what Palace was asked for. Mamadou Sakho made the winning goal for Palace in the second half of the season in the second half, where Palace came in early on, but also managed to put the equalizer in the net very quickly. Palace did not play a good match and a point had certainly been justified, but the fans of Palace remained – as always – full behind their team.
Slowly but surely, Palace is starting to build up some momentum under Roy Hodgson. Palace lost only one of its last four games in the Premier League and that was another unjust defeat at Tottenham Hotspur as well. However, the points were all caught in-house; on foreign soil, Palace lost all its matches and scored in only one of its seven away games so far. So there is still work to be done.
