Bulgaria vs Montenegro Prediction & Betting tips
Not a single ticket has yet been awarded for the European Championship. But there are teams that will almost certainly be there. Others are big outsiders and it would be a big surprise to see these teams at EURO 2020. So it is unlikely that the Bulgarians will make their comeback on the international scene or even the team from Montenegro will make their first appearance at a big tournament. Both teams are not given top chances in Group A to take one of the first two places that will be enough for the qualification.
First place in this pool, we do not have to talk long, goes with great certainty to the Three Lions from England. The Czechs probably have the best chance of finishing second. However, Bulgaria and Montenegro must go beyond themselves in order to at least pass the Czech Republic. Therefore, it is important to score in the direct duels. In the opening match between Bulgaria and Montenegro, the odds show the hosts as easy favorites. But we see both teams more at eye level. Basically, both teams would have to go into this duel with an open visor, because defeats or even draws will hardly help in this qualifying round. Nevertheless, we assume that this match will be characterized by tactics rather, because especially in a first game you do not want to start with a defeat. Therefore, the tendency could well be that only a few goals fall. In the past ten games of these two teams have fallen more than three goals in only 20 percent of the games. As a result, it looks as though a hint on sub-goals will make sense in the match between Bulgaria and Montenegro. At least we do not expect a big football festival. The kick-off for the European Championship qualifier between Bulgaria and Montenegro at Vasil Levski Stadium takes place on 22.03.2019 at 17:00.
Bulgaria:
The Bulgarians are aware of their role in international football, but now they do not claim to be able to return to their old strength immediately and with all their might. Petar Hubchev, one of the golden generation around Hristo Stoitchkov, Krassimir Balakov or Emil Kostadinov, has taken the helm and rather chooses the policy of small steps. He is in the process of building a new team that will be competitive in the medium term. Despite the missed World Cup qualification, the coach continued to be trusted. Maybe this is the right way to develop a successful team. In the Nations League, the Bulgarians played in Division C, narrowly missed promotion behind Norway. This competition was at least a clue that the team of Petar Hubchev is on the right track. In the last seven internationals, there was only one defeat. In the duel between Bulgaria and Montenegro a prognosis for an away win would therefore hardly be appropriate.
Most recently, the Bulgarians played 1: 1 twice, on Cyprus and at home against Slovenia. Especially the meeting against the Slovenians could perhaps serve as a blueprint for the game on Friday. It was a balanced match without the big goalscene scenes. Bulgaria went ahead after 68 minutes with a 1-0 lead from Galin Ivanov. Only a few minutes later, the Slovenes came to a 1-1 final score. Personally, the Bulgarians are not bad at all. Maybe you should have expected Stanislav Kostov in the squad. He was not nominated. In addition, the injured Ivan Goranov is missing. There was also a bad news last. The young Kiril Despodov, who is currently Bulgaria’s Footballer of the Year and moved to Cagliari in the winter, will be out with muscular discomfort. This failure is already a bitter loss. Nevertheless, Petar Hubchev has decided not to nominate another player for the attacker. Apparently, the coach has great confidence in its actors.
Montenegro:
The Montenegrins have missed the qualification for a big tournament a few times only a hair’s breadth. The last time, however, was not quite as round as the coach Ljubisa Tumbakovic imagines. In the last twelve games, Montenegro have only celebrated two wins and both have played against the less competitive team from Lithuania. Therefore, in the game between Bulgaria and Montenegro, according to the quotas, the guest is justified even the outsider. Also in the Nations League it ran in the Division C rather mixed. Third place in a group of four was the highest of emotions. After all, the descent could be avoided, but generally should apply that the team from Montenegro is currently not as strong as it was a few years ago. Leaving Bulgaria and the Czech Republic behind in this qualifying race should therefore also be a mammoth task that this team does not currently seem to be up to. Before the duel between Bulgaria and Montenegro to give a prognosis on a successful EM qualification of the Montenegrins, we consider too bold.
The last two internationals in November both went in the pants. Ljubisa Tumbakovic’s side lost 2-1 at home to Serbia in the derby before beating Romania 1-0 at home. A new year could mean new luck in Montenegro, which would probably be obsolete again if it defeated Sofia. Midfielder Vladimir Jovovic of the FK Jablonec is therefore the motto that victory is possible only with tactical discipline.
If all Montenegrins comply with the guidelines, then a threesome could jump out of it, so at least his opinion. However, there is a big problem with this mission because captain Stevan Jovetic is not available due to injury. Such a star does not exist in this team again, so it will not be compensable that the captain is not on board. This means a significant weakening, which should affect above all in the offensive force.
