Burnley vs Liverpool Prediction & Betting tips
The proud league-leader of the Premier League, Liverpool, plays an away match with Burnley on Saturday night. On Turf Moor, Liverpool hunts for the fourth league win in a row, but with Burnley they will not simply give in!
Burnley:
After three games, Burnley is in sixth place in the Premier League, neatly between the superpowers Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. In a few weeks, The Clarets will no doubt disappear to the right-hand row again, all the more reason for Burnley to enjoy the current classification. Burnley owes sixth place to the 3-0 win in the first round at Southampton and the 1-1 draw last weekend visiting Wolverhampton Wanderers, while the Sean Dyche team lost 2-1 in the second round to Arsenal.
On Wednesday-evening, Burnley suffered the second defeat of the season, but this did not happen in the Premier League. In the Carabao Cup, Sunderland was the opponent on Turf Moor and The Clarets were surprised by the former Premier League club: 1-3. In the home stadium, Burnley took the lead early on by a goal from Jay Rodriguez, but goalkeeper Joe Hart had to collect no less than three goals between the 35th and 50th minute, and Dyche’s team no longer recovered. The 48-year-old Dyche thought that he would beat Sunderland with a B-team, but nothing could be further from the truth.
Liverpool:
With three wins from three games, Liverpool is the only team in the Premier League to be clear. The Reds started the competition with a 4-1 win over Norwich City, were then 1-2 too strong for Southampton and last weekend Arsenal was treated to an 3-1 loss at Anfield. In between those matches, Liverpool also played a game against Manchester City for the Community Shield (1-1, loss after penalties) and the European Super Cup was won at the expense of Chelsea (2-2, win after penalties). Talking about Europe: Thursday evening, Virgil van Dijk was elected UEFA Player of the Year at the expense of Lionel Messi and Cristian Ronaldo.
Liverpool has won the last twelve Premier Leauge games and The Reds hope to enter the international break without losing points. Normally that should also work, because Liverpool won eight of the last ten meetings with Burnley and the team of Jürgen Klopp obviously has a lot more quality. Liverpool’s only problem this season is that the defense of The Reds is no longer as stable as last season and that is largely due to the injury of Alisson Becker, who looks a lot more certain in the goal than his replacement Adrián. The Spaniard made a huge mistake twice in the Southampton duel and Klopp hopes to have Alisson back as soon as possible, but for now he will have to make do with Adrián.
