Caen vs Nantes Prediction & Betting tips
Caen will meet Nantes on Saturday in a game which, given the position of both teams in the classification, may be called a six-point. With a win, Caen jumps from the nineteenth to the sixteenth place and the lead from Nantes to the relegation zone diminishes to only four points. A victory by Nantes, however, makes the visitors a place to rise, while the numbers sixteen to nineteen then remain within three points of each other. Who will do the best business on Wednesday evening?
Caen:
Last weekend, Caen also played a six-point, then against Amiens. While visiting the Stade de la Licorne, Fabien Mercadal’s team was entitled to a point, but was lost for the fourth time in a row. As a result, only one point was taken from the last five league matches, making the situation with the week more acute. Mercadal had no explanation for the defeat after the match against Amiens: “I do not know how we managed to lose this game, Brice Samba did not have to make any rescue, but one moment of lacking concentration will cost us the game.”
Brice Samba, the goalkeeper of Caen, has managed to keep his goal clean four times this season, a number that has not yet been achieved by AS Monaco (three clean sheets in 23 matches). Also scoring this season is very difficult for Le SMC with only twenty goals this season and already nine league games in which the team itself did not score. The last competition goal of Caen dates back to mid-January when Casimir Ninga made the victory in the final phase against Lille (3-1 defeat). Since then, Mercadal’s team has not scored three games in a row, an achievement that is shared with Girondins de Bordeaux and last-minute En Avant Guingamp.
Nantes:
In his own home Nantes led home in a comfortable stadium after the first half of the match against NĂ®mes Olympique last weekend by goals from Kalifa Coulibaly and Waris Majeed, but in the second half things went completely wrong for Les Canaris. In the remaining 45 minutes, no less than four goals were cashed in, meaning a match that had to be paid tribute to Emiliano Sala ended in a nightmare. Vahid Halilhodzic, like Fabien Mercadal, could not explain why his team lost: “I do not understand, it is a complete nightmare For the first time in my career, my team has scored four goals in one half, which means we are now involved in the degradation battle . ”
After eighty minutes of play there was a real Brazilian stronghold at Les Canaris: in the back stood three Brazilians (Diego Carlos, Fabio and Lucas Lima), in the midfield there was one (Andrei Girotto) and also Gabriel Boschilia was allowed a few minutes playing time to pack. Unfortunately for Halilhodzic, these five Brazilians showed why they never became a fixed value in the Divine Canaries. Especially Fabio disappointed enormously in defensive terms, which is why Enock Kwateng, normally first choice of Halilhodzic, is expected to kick off against Caen.
