Cambuur vs Eindhoven FC Prediction & Betting tips
Cambuur hopes to reach the play-offs through the regular season, while FC Eindhoven secretly dreams of the last period. De Brabanders stunted Friday night by winning NEC aces now on a repeat in Leeuwarden.
SC Cambuur:
Cambuur should have enough potential and quality to reach the playoffs, but it has now become clear that the Frisians will have to go deep to qualify for the dessert of the season. The team of coach René Hake has had to deal with a heavy program in recent weeks and that has resulted in four times in a row not being won and the pressure is already starting to increase. Playing matches against teams like Jong PSV and NEC are of course far from bad, but with those two points, Cambuur did not score much. Then Cambuur lost a bit of luck from Fortuna Sittard and Friday night the Frisians shared the points with direct competitor FC Volendam. Cambuur is now twelfth in the rankings and is therefore in the race for the playoffs, but real progress will have to be made.
At home against FC Volendam, Cambuur was given a great opportunity on Friday-evening to put a direct competitor at a disadvantage. The first half showed the men of Hake the attacking intentions immediately. Xander Houtkoop and Daniel Crowley scored for the tea and the 2-1 which was on the board after 45 minutes also seemed to be the final score. That was, however, counted outside Anthony Berenstein. The debutant of FC Volendam pulled the score in the 75th minute, so both teams had to leave the stadium with a run in the bag.
Before the game against FC Eindhoven, Hake will in all likelihood carry out at least one change. Matthew Steenvoorden was suspended for the match with FC Volendam because of his twelfth yellow card of the season, but against FC Eindhoven he is back again. Kenny Teijsse, who made his first minutes in the shirt of Cambuur, played an unfortunate game and he was changed after 45 minutes. The defender could now land on the bench again because of the return of Steenvoorden. Justin Mathieu was suspended on Friday and it is not clear whether he will be taken into the match selection again on Monday.
FC Eindhoven:
FC Eindhoven’s performance has been far below par in recent months, and so Friday’s victory over NEC was a surprising result. The team of coach David Nascimento lost seven of the eight matches in the run of the game with the champion candidate and as a result a crisis arose in the Jan Louwers Stadium. The victory at NEC gave FC Eindhoven a boost, but it still seems impossible that the Brabanders will qualify for the playoffs. The current seventeenth place in the ranking is a thorn in the side of the fans. The fourth period offers FC Eindhoven another ultimate opportunity, but then the blue-white people will really have to peak. Of the three games played FC Eindhoven won two and so there is still everything possible, but then there must be won Monday of Cambuur.
The Friday night game seemed to have been played in advance. The shape of FC Eindhoven had been bad for weeks, while NEC came to the City of Light to defend the leading position. In an inexplicable way, the men of Nascimento suddenly succeeded in showing their best game. Elton Kabangu put the hosts before the break already 2-0 and in the 82nd minute there was a goal from substitute Kyle de Silva. Things got even more exciting when Anass Achahbar and Wojciech Golla managed to find the net by the end of the game, but those goals did not spoil the Eindhoven party in the end. FC Eindhoven will now go to Leeuwarden with a good feeling for the long journey.
The disciplinary suspension of top scorer Mart Lieder dominated the news last week. The striker was suspended for a duel by trainer Nascimento, but against Cambuur he is ‘normal’ again. Because of this Joel Thomas will probably move back to the bank. Thomas Horsten was back in the competition selection for the first time in almost half a year, but it did not come from a comeback. Nascimento prefers Rodney Klooster to the right of the defense.
