Cambuur vs Telstar Prediction & Betting tips
Cambuur has regained its good form and can take maximum advantage of Almere City’s misstep this week on Friday. Can Telstar overcome the next hurdle on the way to promotion?
Cambuur:
Cambuur is now ten points ahead of number three Almere City, the first team in the rankings that is not eligible for direct promotion. Despite the big lead and still ten games to go, trainer Henk de Jong does not count himself rich yet. He continues to emphasize that Cambuur should look at himself, but no one can deny that the Eredivisie is now very close.
Cambuur is in a very strong form – six victories and a draw in the last seven games – while Almere City in particular has lost it completely. Number two de Graafschap and number three NAC Breda are in good shape, but as said before, the gap is large.
De Jong sees no reason to change the team that beat Almere City last week. Jamie Jacobs is fit again, but he can’t start yet. Stanley Akoy, Mitchell Paulissen, Nick Doodeman and Michael Breij will not be present at all. As a result, the same names will start, with a base place for Jarchinio Antonia and Robin Maulun, among others.
Telstar:
Telstar played an excellent first half of the season and was in a play-off place for much of the season. In recent weeks, things have gotten rough at the Witte Leeuwen and we find the team back in ninth place, with no less than seven points behind the play-offs. Andries Jonker’s men have to win again, but this has not been successful for six games.
It will also be a difficult story against Cambuur, because the poor performances are partly a result of the large number of absentees from the team. In the winter break, two strong players left the selection with Benaïssa Benamer and Sebastian Soto and five basic players with Frank Korpershoek, Sven van Doorm, Anass Najah, Gyliano van Velzen and Ilias Bronkhorst were missing in recent weeks. With Kick Groot, Richelor Sprangers, Tom Overtoom and Yaël Liesdek, even more players are missing.
This prompted Jonker to say that Friday evening will be the easiest game of the season. After all, nobody expects anything from the White Lions and the pressure is on Cambuur, but with a new defeat the play-offs will be a very difficult story.
