Cardiff vs Sunderland Prediction & Betting tips
Where Sunderland has been performing dramatically for months, Cardiff City is now in a downward spiral. Does one of the two teams know the light at the end of the tunnel or will this match be a reflection of the results?
Cardiff :
That the Championship is one of the most unpredictable and exciting competitions in Europe, is once again evident from the results of Cardiff City this season. Not so long ago, the team from Wales was seen as the beleaguer of Wolverhampton Wanderers after gaining the second position at about a quarter of the season. Wolverhampton Wanderers was even won and so Cardiff seemed to be the target threat for the leader. Just before Christmas, Neil Warnock’s team was really out of the blue in a very deep valley. They lost successively from Bolton Wanderers, Fulham, Preston North End and Queens Park Rangers. As if that were not bad enough, The Bluebirds did not manage to beat the invalid Mansfield Town last weekend – the current number seven of the fourth level of England (!) – in-house (0-0). In the already so busy program, there will be a replay on a visit to Manstown in about a week, about 280 kilometers from Wales.
For this trip, Sunderland will be settled first. In the Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff hopes to win a competition for the first time since the victory at Hull City on December 16th. It is to be hoped that there will be a home advantage against the number last of the Championship, because it was by no means the case against Mansfield Town. Of the 33,000 available spots in the Cardiff City Stadium – the successor to the legendary stadium Ninian Park – only about 6300 were occupied in the FA cup match against the fourth division. Just when The Bluebirds need a helping hand, Cardiff fans abandon their team.
Sunderland:
In the seasonal preview of the Championship, I jokingly wrote a little bit about the fact that there were quite a lot of betters in the process of relegating Sunderland twice in a row. At the time, I thought it would not be that far for The Black Cats. In the team were still plenty of potential Premier League-worthy players who would save it in the Championship. At least that’s what I thought. After twenty-six rounds of play, it turns out that the arch-rival of Newcastle United is not even championship-worthy, let alone Premier League-worthy. Although the level of England’s second competition has increased exponentially in recent years, there is still a quality difference between the two competitions. Sunderland, however, does not seem to have any trouble with this difference, as the team continues what it started last year in the Premier League; losing matches and occupying the last place.
Sunderland has only won four times in the league and has to improve as the wiedeweerga, otherwise the League One will come very close to the traditional club from England. The fans of Newcastle United will be pleased with that. Not so long ago, Newcastle relegated from the Premier League for the first time in a long time and was terribly stunned by the supporters of Sunderland – at that time still at the highest level. How different is the relationship between the two arch rivals now. Newcastle is in the middle of the Premier League and Sunderland has to be very careful that two times in a row will not become a reality.
