Cercle Brugge KSV vs Waasland-Beveren Prediction & Betting tips
The Jan Breydel stadium is preparing for the match between Cercle Brugge and Waasland-Beveren on Saturday. After four match days, that is a duel between the last and last but one in the standings. In other words, a very important game for both teams. Who pulls the longest end here and knows how to leave the other in last place?
Cercle Bruges:
Cercle was lucky last season that it started well and never really had to look down. Towards the end it became more and more clear that thanks to that good start they were quite lucky as they were the team with the least points achieved after the tenth match day, and so just before Lokeren they were relegated. The start was completely missed in the new playing year and it looks unlikely that this will change soon. Objective preservation thus becomes a long, difficult assignment. Also last week it again gained no points.
On the fourth day of play, KV Mechelen had the perfect opportunity to hoist alongside leader Club. For that it had to go beyond a searching and doubtful Cercle. After three days of play, the people of Bruges were desolate, without points after their name. Not entirely unexpectedly, the home team took the lead from the start, although that initially did not even result in a half chance. There was too much waste at stake at KVM for that. If it didn’t get stuck in the superstructure, every possible danger was smothered in the bud by a careless cross. On the other side, Cercle hardly improved, but halfway through the first half the first full chance was enough. Stef Peeters dropped the corner in the middle of the suit, where Yves Dabila towers monstrously above everyone and the ball buffeted the far corner without doubt. In the second half, KV had to tap a different barrel and it did so from the first whistle. With a whirling Storm in front, the home team was immediately dangerous, although De Camargo just missed his attempt. At the hour it was rushing brother Togui who hung the plates in balance. Cercle goalkeeper Badiashile did not get a corner well concealed, after which the Ivorian brushed the ball into the roof of the goal. Cercle couldn’t do much more than defend, but that didn’t go smoothly either. Schoofs’ free kick doesn’t seem to yield much until the repetition shows that Swinkels was knocked down by Serrano with a rugby tackle. The ball on the dot and that is a piece of cake for Storm, who sent Badiashile the wrong way. For example, for the third week in a row, the visitors completely relinquished a lead, but Cercle still had to empty the cup to the bottom. A lesser cross from Kaya was completely kicked against De Camargo, who had to make no effort to put the 3-1 final score on the board. KV Mechelen may call itself co-leader, Cercle is still waiting for his first points of the season.
Coach Mercadal is having a hard time and does not immediately see what the problem is, in my opinion not such a smart reaction after a game, nevertheless very honestly: “We have had a hard time killing the game and we have had a hard time end the competition as we started. I am sorry for the boys because there is a lot of desire, but at the moment we are not yet up to standard. There is a problem that I have not been able to discover yet. ”
Waasland-Beveren:
That it would be difficult for Waasland-Beveren is no surprise. They were tipped as perhaps the biggest relegation candidate and do it honor for the time being, with all due respect. There is little fire in the team so far and there simply isn’t enough quality to play without that fire. There will have to be a fight. After four match days it goes without saying that one dot is far too little. Last week champion KRC Genk came to visit.
Racing Genk had to recover after the 0 in 6 against KV Mechelen and Zulte Waregem. The Felice Mazzu team immediately took matters in hand, but the predominance did not lead to much goal danger. For Waasland-Beveren, camping was mainly in the own half. After twenty minutes, the national champion still took the lead. Paintsil will not win a beauty prize with it, but with his unorthodox hit he laid the foundation stone of the Genk victory. Waasland-Beveren proved unable to embarrass Genk, Gabriël prevented Dewaest from making it 0-2 on a counter. It remained one-way traffic on the Freethiel, for Waasland-Beveren the peace was particularly welcome. But the home team did not find much relief. The second half was barely seven minutes old when Samatta hit the head on a free kick by Heynen. The last ounce of hope from Waasland-Beveren was therefore gone. It remained a cat and mouse game on the Freethiel. Slightly past the hour, Genk further increased the score. Paintsil headed a cross back to Samatta and he was allowed to hit his second of the evening in goal. Did Waasland-Beveren not see anything at all? Still, a nice Badibanga place ball almost earned him the lead, but his attempt failed. On the other side, Ito was aiming up close again at the crossbar, while Samatta decided wildly about the rebound. But the hat trick finally came for the Tanzanian striker. On Hagi’s instructions, he placed the final chord.
It goes without saying that Adnan Custovic was very disappointed in his team: “I am very disappointed, because we have not shown our best side today. Genk’s victory was deserved. They didn’t even have to push through to score four times. We were not well and have to keep working. Genk naturally has qualities, but we did not play at our level. ”
