Chelsea vs Ajax Prediction & Betting tips
In Group H of the Champions League, Ajax crosses swords with Chelsea on Tuesday evening in London. Both teams are on six points after three group duels, so the winner of this meeting is almost certain to overwinter in the European champions ball.
Chelsea:
At Chelsea this season is necessarily forced to revolutionize. The new coach Frank Lampard was not allowed to make purchases this summer due to a transfer ban, so he was forced to look around in his own youth academy. This new method certainly does not harm the Club from London. Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham in particular are outright sensations. Thanks in part to their excellent form, The Blues are currently firmly in the top four of the Premier League, and with six points they are in the lead in Group H of the Champions League. To top it off, Chelsea equaled her club record last weekend by booking her seventh consecutive victory at the expense of fellow townman Watford (1-2).
Chelsea can therefore confidently work towards the squatter against Ajax, although the team is having a remarkably difficult time this season on its own Stamford Bridge. Last week in the Carabao Cup, plagued Manchester United beat the team at Lampard with a 1-2 win, and earlier this season Leicester City (1-1), Sheffield United (2-2) and Valencia (0) also knew -1) already grab points against the blue shirts. In particular, the rear-guard, with only two clean sheets in eight official home games, is a concern for the English, who on Tuesday evening with Antonio RĂ¼diger, Andreas Christensen and possibly N’Golo Kante must miss various defensive forces.
Ajax:
Ajax was of course already the revelation of the Champions League last season, and this time again it promises to be a great football year for the team from Amsterdam. The formation of trainer Erik ten Hag already has a lead of six and eight points in the Eredivisie, respectively, on close attackers such as AZ and PSV, so the red and white are on track for their 35th club history title. Ajax is also in the Champions League with six points from three group matches, although the 0-1 home defeat of two weeks ago was of course a bitter pill. The team from Amsterdam did not play their very best game, but they deserved a draw because of a penalty that was not given and a (wrongly rejected) goal.
Anyway Ajax is doing well. The game of the team from Amsterdam is not always convincing – think for example of the difficult 1-2 victory at RKC, or the way in which the team almost gave a 0-3 lead last weekend in the 2-4 victory over PEC Zwolle – but classmates such as Dusan Tadic, Hakim Ziyech, Quincy Promes, Donny van de Beek, Nicolas Tagliafico, Daley Blind and Andre Onana almost always ensure that the team of Ten Hag never really falls below the lower limit. With this player material and a favorable draw I therefore see Ajax getting far again in the Champions League this season.
