Croatia vs Armenia Prediction & Betting tips
With a friendly match against Armenia, Croatia will warm up for the European Championship on Tuesday evening. The visitors hope for a stunt in Velika Gorica, but have left star player Mkhitaryan at home.
Croatia:
It almost feels like an eternity ago, but with the loss of the 2018 World Cup final, Croatia was one of the trendsetters of the last major football tournament. Nevertheless, the bookmakers have little faith in the football qualities of the Red and Whites this summer, because Unibet is willing to pay out no less than 41 times your stake if they manage to win the European Championship.
This will mainly have to do with the bad shape. Croatia has only won two of its last six caps, and those were unconvincing six against the football dwarfs Cyprus (1-0) and Malta (3-0). Nevertheless, national coach Zlatko Dalic, with players such as Dejan Lovren, Josip Brekalo, Ivan Perisic, Andrej Kramaric, Nikola Vlasic and of course Luka Modric, has a lot of pure football players. Mateo Kovacic also belongs in that list, although the Chelsea midfielder will probably not play after winning the Champions League against Armenia last weekend.
Armenia:
Since the collapse of the former Soviet Union, Armenia has never qualified for a major tournament. This summer’s European Championship will also have to follow the number ninety of the FIFA world ranking behind the tube. Nevertheless, the Eastern Europeans have been doing well in an international context for quite some time. Armenia has already managed to remain unbeaten for eight international matches in a row, and even managed to send home the European Championship-goers Iceland (2-0) and Romania (3-2) during its World Cup qualifiers last March.
The Armenian internationals are therefore not bakers, although national coach Joaquin Caparros decided not to use star player Henrikh Mkhitaryan this international period. The Roma playmaker (88 caps, 30 goals) was clearly not pleased with this, and expressed his dissatisfaction on social media at the lack of an invitation to the national team. That is not exactly cleverly done by Caparros, who apparently wants to see to what extent his team can hold its own if the star is not present.
