Derby vs Cardiff Prediction & Betting tips
Last season, Derby County and Cardiff City shared the points in an attractive draw (1-1). Derby and Cardiff achieved the same result in their last league match. Will we see a winner on Wednesday evening?
Derby County:
Derby County will look for the first point in its own Pride Park Stadium on Wednesday evening. The Rams lost the three previous home games and was unable to score a single run. It itself conceded seven goals. Besides Derby, only Preston North End and Wycombe Wanderers are still winless in-house.
A point was scored last week on a visit to Nottingham Forest. Still without Wayne Rooney, Derby took the lead through Martyn Waghorn. The striker scored after half an hour of play with a neat free kick. 30-year-old Waghorn has recovered from an injury and showed on his return to the base that he does not want to lose his place as the most advanced player in Derby. Nottingham Forest tied the score after an hour of play and that was it (1-1).
Wayne Rooney will join Derby County this Friday. The routine is still in home isolation and missed the duels against Forest and Huddersfield Town. The home game against Cardiff City is therefore too early for the former England international.
Cardiff City:
Cardiff City has extended the unbeaten series to four games. The game against Middlesbrough ended with a 1-1 score on the scoreboard and with that, Cardiff captured the seventh point of the past four games. The remaining points came from a victory over Preston North End (0-1) and two draws against Bournemouth (1-1) and Blackburn (0-0). The Bluebirds’ only goal in the game against Middlesbrough was scored by Sheyi Ojo. The Liverpool mercenary scored his second goal for Cardiff.
It is the fourth game in a row for Cardiff in which there were no more than two goals. This season, Cardiff has only played one league game at all with more than two goals (1-2 defeat to Reading). The game under Neil Harris has been extremely preserved this season. With two goals, Ojo and Kieffer Moore are at the top of The Bluebirds’ top scorers list.
