Dijon vs Brest Prediction & Betting tips
Dijon and Stade Brestois both went down in the first two league games of the new season. Will either team be able to win on Sunday?
Dijon:
On a visit to Olympique Lyonnais, Dijon suffered a heavy defeat two weeks ago. A goal from Aurelien Scheidler, who a week earlier saw two goals rejected due to offside, les Moutards still took the lead, but then things went quickly wrong for the team of Stéphane Jobard. Before half-time, Dijon was 3-1 behind and in the second half another goal was cashed, making the final score 4-1. Dijon already fought a long battle against relegation last season and seems to be in the lower echelons of the Ligue 1 this season.
With only one goal and five goals against, Dijon’s season start is simply bad. One of the few bright spots in Jobard’s team is Scheidler. With a little more luck, the 22-year-old striker would have already scored three goals, leading the top scorers classification together with Memphis Depay. The victim of Scheidler’s good play is nineteen-year-old Rayan Philippe. The talent from the youth academy of les Moutards was allowed to alternate Scheidler in the final phase in both games this season, but does not seem to have any prospect of a starting place for the time being.
Brest:
With a 4-0 loss against Nîmes Olympique and a 3-2 loss against Olympique Marseille, Stade Brestois has started the new season downright badly. Yet the statistics do not show that Olivier Dall’Oglio’s team is playing bad football. Les Ty’Zefs have already created 29 goal attempts, seven of which actually went on goal, but was not yet accurate enough. In addition, Dall’Oglio’s team is quite vulnerable defensively, as evidenced by the fact that seven goals were conceded from nine shots taken on goal.
So, both defensive and offensive, there are plenty of things going wrong at Stade Brestois, but on the other hand, there are also positive changes this season compared to last season. For example, striker Gaëtan Charbonnier had a very difficult time at the highest level last season with only four hits in 26 games, but this season the striker got off to a good start with one goal in the first two games. Acquisition Romain Faivre, who will make the switch from AS Monaco this summer, has also been striking so far in a positive way, partly because he scored against Olympique Marseille.
