Eibar vs Villarreal Prediction & Betting tips
In the fierce battle for European football, there is a key duel on the program in Ipurua on Wednesday evening. Both Eibar and Villarreal have to win to keep their European aspirations alive.
Eibar :
With 35 points from 25 rounds, Eibar is working on an excellent season. The Basques are doing so well that they are a major candidate for European football. Last weekend, however, the redblue proved a bad service by losing 2-0 against direct competitor Celta de Vigo. A bitter defeat, because in the first half the visitors were by far the overlying party, although they forgot to express their preponderance in goals. Takashi Inui and Joan Jordan, among others, helped with some excellent soap opportunities. After the tea the roles were reversed and the team of trainer Jose Luis Mendilibar got a lesson in effectiveness. This resulted in a heavy-handed end to a beautiful series of no less than 111 days without a defeat.
The defeat at Celta de Vigo meant the second loss in a row, so for Eibar it is really a question of hooking up or losing weight in the fight for European football. Mendilibar will be particularly worried by the high number of countergames, as with 38 opponents, Los Armeros have the second worst left rear row. In the last ten rounds of play they managed to keep the zero only once. Eibar likes to put pressure on early and is therefore regularly successful, but with her way of playing she is also quite vulnerable.
Villarreal:
Villarreal cleared last week’s European elimination last week with a frugal 1-0 home victory at Getafe, but convincingly that victory was not in the least. Enes Ünal signed early on the only goal of the game, but the Man of the Match award was obvious to goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo, who eliminated no less than two penalties from the visitors. ‘Asenjo is a real puntpakker for us,’ says trainer Javi Calleja. There was indeed no pin to get in, because for the first time in six official games, the yellow shirts once again with the full loot to the stroke. In addition, it was already eight games since El Submarino Amarillo once again managed to keep the zero.
Thanks to this victory, Villarreal can continue to hope for Champions League football, although the deficit at number four Valencia remains at eight points. The yellow shirts must therefore continue to win themselves and then hope for various missteps of their arch rival. The infirmary is now somewhat more military, although I keep my doubts about the vanguard. Ünal finally managed to score once again last weekend, but in my eyes the Turkish striker is short for a place in the Spanish subtopper. Also Ünal and Carlos Bacca seem hard to find each other within the lines. The fact that Calleja regularly preferred left winger Denis Cheryshev over Ünal during the last few weeks indicates that the coach also recognizes that something has to change, even though he keeps rotating between the Russian and the Turk, while sometimes buying winter Roger Martinez can make his minutes. At the moment, however, Villarreal is primarily dependent on Bacca in terms of attacking threat.
