Helmond vs Nijmegen Prediction & Betting tips
NEC Nijmegen has, thanks to the decision of the KNVB to the game against Young Ajax to play again suddenly a good chance to take the title. The Nijmegen team will have to win from Helmond Sport and Jong Ajax in a time span of four days to put the competition at a disadvantage.
Helmond Sport:
For a while Helmond Sport seemed to be playing in the battle for the fourth period, but it has now become clear that the season of the Brabanders has already come to an end. The team of trainer Roy Hendriksen lost the last four matches in a row and that has ensured that the Helmonders are currently in the eighteenth place, a position that will naturally provide a few satisfied faces to the supporters. In recent weeks, Helmond Sport has left it to perform and so the sights can already be targeted next season.
Last Monday, the Eindhoven-based Eindhoven team offered Helmond Sport the chance to give the supporters something to cheer, but in the Jan Louwers Stadium it went wrong again. After 63 minutes there was a 2-2 score on the board and Arne Naudts scored twice, but moments later, Tibeau Swinnen put the Eindhoveners on a decisive lead. Helmond Sport will now have to make real progress in order not to lose NEC, but the question is whether Hendriksen can get the best out of his players. A real goal is no longer there.
Compared with the match against FC Eindhoven, the match selection is a bit bigger this time. The experienced Robert Braber had to leave the game on Monday, but he is back on Friday night.
NEC Nijmegen:
NEC seemed to take a decisive hit last week in Amsterdam when there was lost to Young Ajax, but a blunder from the KNVB offers the team of trainer Pepijn Lijnders now an unexpected chance to rectify this misstep. Due to an administrative error by the KNVB, Teun Bijleveld was on four yellow cards with Jong Ajax, while he actually had five yellow prints and was suspended for the encounter with NEC. Michael Reiziger then postponed Bijleveld and later came out that the game has to be replayed. NEC is now two points under Fortuna Sittard together with Jong Ajax, but both teams have played a game less.
Last Monday, NEC also broke off by defeating FC Oss in their own Goffert, but this was not really convincing. Fatih Kamaci put the Brabanders even after a 0-1 lead just after halftime, so there seemed to be a stunt in the air. However, Arnaut Groeneveld recovered the balance on the scoreboard quickly and later it was Ferdi Kadioglu who threw the game into the final. It was only the second victory in a series of five games. In Helmond the Gelderers are now hoping to work on self-confidence, especially given the fact that NEC will board the bus to Amsterdam three days later.
In his traditional talk with the press, Lijnders did not yet want to indicate which eleven names he would start with, but it is in line with the expectation that an unchanged NEC will appear at the kickoff. As a result, Mart Dijkstra and Frank Sturing will have to start on the bench again and Ted van de Pavert and Kevin Jansen will have a starting place.
