Hungary vs Croatia Prediction & Betting tips
In the Groupama Arena in Budapest, Hungary will compete on Sunday evening in Group E of the European Championship qualification against none other than vice-world champion Croatia. The home country lost its first European Championship qualifier last week and must now achieve good results. The visitors managed to win their first game, but have been struggling with their form for some time.
Hungary:
Hungary started its European Championship qualification poorly by losing 2-0 with Slovakia last Thursday with no chance at all. National coach Marco Rossi surprisingly opted for 3-4-2-1 formation and kept star player Balazs Dzsudzsak out of the base.
This experiment failed completely, so chances are that Rossi will fall back on his old system on Sunday evening. The expectation is that Dzsudzsak as left winger will make his appearance again in the base and will play his hundredth international match. However, the fact that the former PSV player is still the most important player at the age of 32 is significant. Center defender Willi Orban has a base place at RB Leipzig, but of course has only a limited influence on De Magyaren’s game. The Hungarian hope for the future is mainly based on Adam Nagy, who, together with Kingsley Coman and Julian Draxler, among others, was chosen as one of the ten largest talents at the 2016 European Championship.
Croatia:
Croatia was scared last Thursday against football dwarf Azerbaijan. The vice-world champion fell behind in the middle of the first half before home crowd, but managed to start her European Championship qualification with a narrow 2-1 victory through goals from Borna Barisic and Andrej Kramaric.
National coach Zlatko Dalic was of course happy with the mental resilience of his team, but he will also realize that it must be improved. Since last year’s fantastic World Cup, the Croats have been struggling with their form. Various key players hung their international football boots on the willows after the World Cup, plus the country has to miss quite a few players during this international match due to injuries. In particular, the rear-guard is severely damaged with the absence of Sime Vrsaljko, Josip Pivaric and Ivan Strinic, among others. Dejan Lovren is there, but he has not played since mid-January and therefore misses game rhythm. Dalic is therefore not to be envied.
