Jong AZ vs Maastricht Prediction & Betting tips
MVV managed to win again for the first time in two months last week and hopes to continue the good line against fellow low-flyer Young AZ.
Young AZ:
Young AZ finished in their first two seasons in professional football in sixteenth and eighteenth place respectively and this season the Alkmaar promises can be found around that place. After thirteen rounds of games, the team of coach and former MVV player Michel Vonk managed to collect only ten points. Of the last ten league games, only one was won: on October 18 against Young Ajax.
It is striking that Young AZ loses almost weekly, but is rarely played away. This season it only lost once with more than one goal difference: 0-2 against NEC. Moreover, that was one of only two league matches in which Young AZ did not score. The many goals are the biggest obstacle to achieving results: goalkeepers Jasper Schendelaar and Rody de Boer had to fish 23 times.
Both goalkeepers belong to the selection of the main force of the Alkmaarders, who are playing a away game against Astana thousands of kilometers away this week. Also players who already made minutes with the team such as Zakaria Aboukhlal, Ferdy Druijf and Tijani Reijnders are not against MVV for that reason. Mohammed Taabouni and Souleyman Allouch are at the World Cup under-17 with the Orange.
However, players are also returning: Richonell Margaret, Henri Weigelt and Joey Jacobs made their comeback at Jong AZ last week in Eindhoven. For Weigelt, it meant only his first minutes of the season.
MVV:
The patience of the Maastricht fans had run out last week: two months without victory and unfulfilled ambitions resulted in banners that trainer Fuat Usta and the Maastricht board requested to clear the field. Pardoes managed to win the Star Bearers for the first time since 1 September, although the encounter with Almere City seemed to turn out to be another defeat. Niek Vossebelt made it 1-2 for the guests in the 83rd minute, but MVV was straight in the last five minutes. First Joeri Schroijen decorated a very easily given penalty that was utilized by Anthony van de Hurk, after which a poor cross from again Schroijen by Anwar Bensabouh was worked into his own goal. Because of the victory, MVV is on twelve points and is in seventeenth place, two places above Young AZ.
However, confidence in Usta has not yet been restored. The Maastricht fans still prefer to see him leave today than to leave tomorrow and this has everything to do with his dictatorial way of training and coaching, his incomprehensible set-ups and messy performances in the media. In recent weeks, however, he is increasingly working towards a permanent line-up and next Friday the substitution of Nathanael Frenoy for the once again injured Marnick Vermijl is probably the only substitution.
