Juventus vs Napoli Prediction & Betting tips
Already in the second round of the Serie A we are presented with an absolute topper, Napoli will visit Juventus this weekend. Two seasons ago, the Naples team managed to make the title race exciting thanks to a 0-1 victory in Turin. Last season it was clear early on that Juventus was going to take the title, they both won confrontations with Napoli (3-1 and 1-2).
Juventus:
Juventus stirred the transfer market again this summer. De Ligt, Danilo, Pellegrini, Buffon, Ramsey and Rabiot, among others, were recruited to strengthen the Old Lady. None of these players started last season with the season opener in the base and only Frenchman Rabiot could count on a raid. The biggest difference compared to the previous months on the Bianconeri side was therefore the peak position. This was filled in by Gonzalo Higuain, who returned from a loan to Chelsea and was reunited with trainer Maurizio Sarri.
In this familiar line-up, Juve was frequently in control and home team Parma was lurking on the counter in the season opener, just like last season. There were no real opportunities until Giorgio Chiellini tapped Alex Sandro’s stop in the 21st minute. Cristiano Ronaldo also made his first of the season ten minutes later if it weren’t for a toe length offside and the VAR therefore rejected the goal. The Portuguese got a few more chances in the remainder of the match, but was not on the edge. I Gialloblu was no longer involved in the second half and saw the national champion grabbing three earned points.
Napoli:
Napoli was a lot less active on the transfer market this summer than the reigning champion. However, two purchases started directly in the base. Giovanni di Lorenzo came from Empoli for eight million euros and will fight with Hysaj who will take the right back position this season, Kostas Manolas came from AS Roma and will be the center of defense with Koulibaly this season. In addition, the transfer of PSV’s Hirving Lozano was completed this week, but the Mexican is not yet fit enough to take action.
The debut of Di Lorenzo and Manolas culminated in a true spectacle piece. Out at Fiorentina, the Azzuri were already within ten minutes behind Zielinski making hands and thus giving away a penalty. Even before the break the Neapolitans bent the position. In the 38th minute, Dries Mertens made a nice strike from distance, five minutes later, Insigne scored from the penalty spot after Mertens was knocked out. In the second half, both teams only thought of the attack and Fio returned to 2-2 and later even 3-3. However, the final touch was for Napoli, Callejon gave a tight pass to Insigne who only had to put his head against it for a 3-4 victory.
Ancelotti immediately commented on the title chances in a press conference after the game: “I am sure this is a team that can compete for the scudetto. It is a team with a lot of potential and our attackers are hard to stop. It’s nice to play against the Bianconeri so early in the season, so we can see immediately where we stand. ”
