Kortrijk vs Antwerp Prediction & Betting tips
A Flemish duel takes place between Kortrijk and Antwerp. The home side are surprisingly ahead of the cup winners in the table. In contrast, the last appearance in Liège was weak. Only one direct shot on goal was fired during the season and the 1: 2 bankruptcy was flattering against this background.
Antwerp, for its part, was also unable to win last Sunday evening. In the home game against Eupen it was only enough to make it 2-2. The team woke up too late and, shortly before the end of the game, had bad luck that the supposed winning goal was denied by the VAR.
For the match in the Guldensporenstadion between Kortrijk and Antwerp, the tip aims to make Ilombe Mboyo strike at least once on the side of the home side.
Kortrijk:
On the offensive, Kortrijk can still rely solely on Ilombe Mboyo. The 33-year-old former Diables Rouges player scored on the last two game days and has a 50 percent goal rate after six rounds. In the previous season, Mboyo was the strongest goal-getter of the West Flemings and was involved in a quarter of all goals of the season.
The striker is now particularly important. An important attacker, Teremas Moffi from Nigeria, left Kortrijk a few days ago. The 21-year-old attacker was transferred to the Bretons from Lorient in the neighboring country’s Ligue 1 for the record transfer fee of around eight million euros in the history of the Flemish club.
From a sporting point of view, this is a huge loss. Although Moffi only made seven appearances in his debut season last year after moving from Latvia, the offensive player scored four times. He also scored again in the 2-1 away win on matchday two at the Buffalo from Ghent before his injury.
Kortrijk owes the fact that it was only the second defeat in the sixth league game on the last match day not to the average storm, with the exception of Mboyo, but to a stable defensive line. The top 3 in the Jupiler League alone have conceded fewer goals to date.
The back team was also strong in the last two home games: clean sheets were scored against Eupen and Mouscron.
Antwerp:
Coach Ivan Leko is now feeling some pressure in Antwerp. This season the final championship round will not bring together the best six teams from the regular season, as usual, but only the first four clubs. If the Flemings don’t slowly get back on track, this season’s goal could be missed.
With two wins, two bankruptcies and two draws, the season balance is completely balanced. But for the fourth of the past season this yield is not satisfactory. With 1.5 goals conceded per league game, the defense is very shaky: Even against a weak offensive team like the Ostbelgier from Eupen they recently conceded two goals again.
At the same time, the attack is not yet at operating temperature. This is especially true of Dieumerci Mbokani. Last season’s top scorer has only scored one goal and has not yet scored away for the entire calendar year.
In view of the persistent defensive problems, despite the departure of Moffi on the offensive, the hosts in the match between Kortrijk and Antwerp have more than one goal of the home side with value.
