KV Mechelen vs Antwerp Prediction & Betting tips
A duel in the top six on Sunday. Mechelen and Antwerp are facing a direct duel with the same number of points. Who can keep their place in the rankings?
KV Mechelen:
Last week the case of Beerschot against the license of KV Mechelen for this season occurred and Tuesday afternoon the ruling followed. Beerschot’s complaint was declared inadmissible. KV Mechelen may therefore retain the license that entitles them to enter 1A this season. Beerschot’s complaint did not meet the correct formal requirements and was therefore declared inadmissible.
Joachim Van Damme is completely back. KV Mechelen now extended the contract of the defending midfielder until 2023. Van Damme went through the youth series of KSK Beveren and made his debut for the A-team at the age of seventeen. In 2012 he exchanged (against Waasland then) Beveren for KV Mechelen. He played for Malinwa for four years, until his contract was terminated after a suspension for cocaine use. Waasland-Beveren then picked him up again. In the first half of the 2018 calendar year, he played nine times for the Lions. He then returned to Mechelen, where he was a base pioneer in the title year in 1B. Now he has linked his fate to KVM until 2023.
For the international break Mechelen went to visit Eupen and wanted to eliminate its loss against Club Brugge. Although it was mainly Eupen who regularly made it to the back line and showed his offensive intentions, the first chances came from Mechelen. Mechelen ended up with one less man, but still took the lead. The East Cantons came a bit closer to the equalizer in the second half. But Mechelen then dealt the death blow.
Antwerp :
This summer Didier Lamkel Zé seemed on his way to the exit at Antwerp. The flank attacker wanted to sign an improved contract and therefore stayed away from the first training. That hit Laszlo Bölöni in the wrong throat and he sent him to the promises for a few weeks. Now, Didier Lamkel Zé seems to be getting it right at home because both parties are negotiating a new contract. The negotiations had already started last season, but were put in the fridge for a while. Lamkel Zé has now picked up and will still get a new contract.
Antwerp FC currently shares third place. Even more: if the postponed race is won, the Great Old is even on the silver scaffold. “My opinion about our competition start is positive,” says Laszlo Bölöni. “In the competition we only have two defeats after nine games. I can live with that. We earn six and a half out of ten. Why not seven? Then we would be in a comfortable position and I want to avoid that. Then we may not move forward. ”
Antwerp had a perfect report in-house for the time being, but with Waasland-Beveren, STVV and Cercle Brugge it had not really been tested for Den Bosuil. That would be different against Standard. At a match between The Great Old and the Rouches there is always some high voltage, because of all players with a Liège history at Antwerp that was certainly the case now. Certainly in the first half, the dolls started dancing a lot. Antwerp was 2-0. No dirt in the air until they started shooting themselves in the foot. On two occasions, Renaud Emond was able to take advantage of not too keenly defending stock number 1.
