Lille vs Ajax Prediction & Betting tips
The tension is to cut into Group H of the Champions League. Ajax must win a visit to Lille on Wednesday evening to keep its chances of hibernating in the European champions’ ball in their own hands, but the Northern French will not give in at their own Stade Pierre-Mauroy without a struggle.
Lille:
Lille was the big revelation of the Ligue 1 last season, by crowning France’s vice-champion Paris Saint-Germain. This football year, however, there is a lot less to enjoy in the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, because after fourteen rounds of games, Les Dogues are no further than a poor tenth place. Also in the Champions League, the Northern French are very disappointing with only one point from four group matches. Lille can therefore forget a place in the eighth finals of the Champions League. Even third place seems to be going with only two duels and a deficit of six points on Valencia a utopia.
Lille’s confidence is therefore at a low level, with last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain as the most recent downfall. Still, I expect that the red-and-blue people want to show their best side on Wednesday evening, because the Champions League is and remains the ideal stage to put yourself in the window. Victor Osimhen, who is only 20 years old in particular, will be on the radar of most European top clubs. The Nigerian international was in total already nine times accurate this season, including twice in the Champions League.
Ajax:
With seven points from four group matches, Ajax is working on a great season in the Champions League, and with a win in and against Lille it is almost certain of a place in the knockout phase of the European million ball. With a little more luck, the men from trainer Erik ten Hag had almost already received their ticket for the next round, were it not for the fact that three weeks ago in that crazy away match against Chelsea (4-4) of three weeks ago, partly because of two red cards for Daley Blind and Joël Veltman and handed a penalty kick against a 1-4 lead. The Italian referee Gianluca Rocchi does not have to book a city trip to Amsterdam for the time being.
Ajax is still struggling with the aftermath of that match, because Blind and Veltman are both suspended for the duel against Lille. Ten Hag will therefore have to move and is expected to make an appeal to Perr Schuurs and Razvan Marin, two players who have not yet been able to convince in the Ajax jersey. David Neres, too, will not take the train to Lille due to injuries, so Zakaria Labyad can hope again for a base position. Last weekend, the Moroccan refined his second base place of this season with a goal against Heracles (4-1 win). Andre Onana, Lisandro Martinez and Quincy Promes are on the alert and must pass the last group match against Valencia on a yellow card.
