Lille vs Dijon Prediction & Betting tips
Lille suffered loss of points in the Ligue 1 for the second week in a row, while Dijon lost four games in a row in the competition and the Coupe de France. Can one of the teams retake on Sunday or will the deadlines of both teams be extended?
Lille:
After Lille equalized 0-0 two weeks ago against Montpellier in house, Christophe Galtier’s team did not get past RC Strasbourg last round. At rest, Les Dogues were still leading 1-0 after a strong first half in which Jonathan Ikoné scored his second goal of the season. In the second half, Lille was no longer the next team and afterwards Galtier was not dissatisfied with the 1-1 final score. By the second draw in a row, Lille is still the number two behind Paris Saint-Germain and the lead on pursuer Olympique Lyonnais has been reduced to five points with one point.
At the start of February, the vanguard of Lille still impressed Olympique Nice with a 4-0 win, but in the last four games a total of only four times was scored. Star player Nicolas Pépé is now three matches dry and Jonathan Bamba has not scored four games in a row. Nevertheless, after Stade Reims and PSG, Lille is still the best-performing team in the Ligue 1 over the last five games. With next week’s heavy away match against AS Saint-Étienne on the program, it is now up to Galtier’s men to win low-level pigeon Dijon, otherwise it might be possible to say goodbye to the second place next week.
Dijon:
After three defeats in a row in the Ligue 1 against Olympique Marseille, Nîmes Olympique and AS Saint-Étienne, the fourth loss was in a row last Tuesday. While visiting the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain, where the MCN trio was missing, was far too strong for Antoine Kombouaré’s team, who therefore could focus on preservation for the rest of the season. With only ten points from the last fifteen games, the team from the mustard city after Caen is the weakest-performing team of the last few weeks and the goal difference over the last fifteen league matches is anything but thriving with -14 (10-24). After 26 games, the team of Kombouaré with only twenty points, only has last-minute En Avant Guingamp, while the deficit in the safe seventeenth place is now four points.
Noteworthy is that Dijon this season in the six teams with the most possession ball in the Ligue 1, but that the team still nineteenth in the standings. The many ball possession (average 51%) led to 302 shots in 25 matches this season, with an average of 12.1 shots per game, but after that the team lacks efficiency, as in the end only twenty runs were scored. The conversion rate from the number of shots to goals is dramatic with 6.6% for the team of Kombouaré and only Olympique Nice is doing relatively worse in this area, but that team knows how to defend a lot better.
