Liverpool vs Real Madrid Prediction & Betting tips
In the quarter-finals of the Champions League, Liverpool will be visited by Real Madrid on Wednesday evening on their own Anfield Road. The English hope for a memorable European Cup evening, although the Spaniards are on roses thanks to last week’s 3-1 victory in the first leg.
Liverpool:
Can Liverpool fight back from last week’s 3-1 defeat in the first leg? This diptych has certainly not yet been decided, although the English will have to play a lot better than in the first half in the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano. After tea, Jürgen Klopp’s team came out a lot better, and thanks to Mohamed Salah’s important goal, the Reds’ loyal following can continue to hope for a comeback. Liverpool has, of course, chopped up this bit more often, after the English managed to undo a 3-0 defeat from the first leg in the semi-finals of the Champions League against FC Barcelona two years ago thanks to a memorable 4-0 victory in the return at Anfield Road (only to win the final a few weeks later).
Liverpool must therefore hope for another historic European Cup evening at Anfield Road, although the red shirts are by no means convincing in-house this season. Also last weekend, the current number six of the Premier League was again unable to convince at home, although with a narrow 2-1 win over Aston Villa it ended a series of no less than six home defeats in a row in the Premier League. According to Klopp, this is mainly due to the lack of supporters in the stands, although Liverpool can show excellent figures in the Champions League with three victories in four home matches this year. In the center of the back, however, the English are still badly damaged, as Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez are still in the rag basket.
Real Madrid:
Real Madrid is almost like fine wine, as the Spaniards are starting to get in better shape as the season progresses. Zinedine Zidane’s team was the least convincing group winner in the Champions League with, among other things, two defeats against Shakhtar Dontesk, and also lagged behind almost the entire season in LaLiga. How different the situation is now: Real Madrid already has one leg in the semi-finals of the Champions League, and thanks to the handsome 2-1 victory over FC Barcelona in El Clasico last weekend, the Spanish leader Atletico Madrid is only one more point approached. If Real Madrid becomes national champion this year and manages to take the Champions League, that would really be a world achievement.
However, it is far from being that far, because it is not made easy for Real Madrid. Zidane must miss three of his four basic defenders on Wednesday evening with Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane and Dani Carvajal, while reserve right-back Lucas Vazquez also has to be absent. More than ever, the Frenchman will have to rely on his old soldiers Casemiro, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Karim Benzema to guide the Madrid people to the semi-finals of the Champions League. And of course on Vinicius Junior, who had a large share in the 3-1 victory in the first leg last week with two goals.
