Liverpool vs Salzburg Prediction & Betting tips
Liverpool lost Napoli’s first game and therefore needs a win. With Salzburg, however, one not to be underestimated travels to Anfield.
Liverpool:
This season, Jurgen Klopp faces the seemingly impossible task of equalizing last season’s performance. The Reds collected no less than 97 points in the Premier League and in any year other than the years when Josep Guardiola’s Manchester City is the opponent, that would have been more than enough for the title. Liverpool also seized the cup with the big ears, by settling with Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur, among others.
At home, however, Liverpool has started perfectly to win the first championship since the founding of the Premier League. The first seven league matches were all won and because City already lost and tied once along the way, the lead on City is already number two already five points. So Klopp proves that nothing is impossible.
Liverpool had a false start in the Champions League: on the opening game round a visit to Napoli was lost 2-0, thanks in part to a rare error by Virrgil van Dijk. That a defeat visiting Napoli does not have to be fatal for winning the tournament, Liverpool proved last year when it also lost a visit to Italy. In the pool of death, Liverpool and PSG narrowly went ahead at the expense of the Italians. For this, three home victories at Anfield were sufficient, which also immediately outlined the importance of the first home game in this CL campaign.
Salzburg:
A few years ago Ajax was introduced to the well-oiled football machine that has become Salzburg. In 2014 the team already made an impression with its way of putting pressure and razor-sharp attacks. However, the Jesse Marsch team will make its debut in the champion ball this season. This is due to the increase in Austria on the UEFA coefficient list compared to the Netherlands two seasons ago.
This year all brakes are released at Salzburg. The team achieved no less than 25 points from the first nine league games in their own country, but managed to score no less than 40 (!) Times in those games, an average of almost 4.5 hits per game. This year, Salzburg is chopping the competition in its own country and has already scored results like 7-2, 6-0, 5-0, 5-1 and 5-2. This year there is no size on the team in their own country and Red Bull is whistling towards the title.
Racing Genk also got a big beating from Salzburg on the opening round in this group. The Belgians were already looking at a 5-1 deficit at halftime, partly due to a hat trick from 19-year-old Noor Erling Haland. In the second half, the team took gas back and settled for a 6-2 victory. Haland is the absolute best player at Red Bull this season: he already scored 17 (!) Times in 11 official games this season. In addition to Haland, the Japanese Masaya Okugawa and Takumi Minamino (4 hits), the Zambian Patson Daka (4 hits) and the Malian Sekou Koita (5 hits) will also find the net easily this season. Liverpool has therefore been warned of the impulse of the Marsch team.
