Lorient vs Lens Prediction & Betting tips
Lorient and RC Lens are both on three points after two games. Does that also mean that both teams are well matched?
Lorient:
Three weeks ago, PhD candidate Lorient started the new season well with a 3-1 home win at RC Strasbourg. However, on a visit to AS Saint-Étienne, the PhD candidate was put back on the ground with both feet. In both the first and the second half, Christophe Pélissier’s team had about as much ball possession as AS Saint-Étienne, but the PhD candidate only managed to found danger in moderation and did not score. In both halves, however, a goal was conceded, causing Pélissier’s team to go down 2-0.
Last season, Lorient’s games averaged 2.5 goals per game and in the first games of this season, Pélissier’s team maintains this goal-rich streak. So far this season there have been three goals per game and that is given that in the first two games of the season there were 36 goal attempts on the high side. Also looking at the xG statistic, the statistical number of expected goals based on the quality of the goal attempts, this number is on the high side, but certainly not illogical for a team that dares to take risks.
Lens:
In the opening game of the season,RC Lens lost 2-1 against Olympique Nice, but last Thursday Franck Haise’s team recovered well from that defeat in terms of the result. In-house, the PhD candidate played against a battered Paris Saint-Germain and although Haise’s team had little to say for almost the entire game, they managed to keep the zero. Because Ignatius Ganago benefited from a huge blunder by Marcin Bulka in the second half, the Champions League finalist of last season was even won 1-0.
Striker Ignatius Ganago, who was taken over from Olympique Nice this summer for six million euros, only scored three times in 26 league games last season and was therefore not always assured of a starting place. Provided he stays fit, he seems to be able to count on a basic place due to his hit against PSG at RC Lens. The 21-year-old striker can no longer go wrong with the supporters and this could just be the season of his big breakthrough.
