Last weekend, a carelessness at the beginning and at the end of the game led to a 2-1 defeat in the north of England against Newcastle United. Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has already conceded 25 goals this season, making the Bilic-Elf the worst defense in the league.
Due to the surprising Burnley win at Arsenal, the gap to the saving bank is now three points. The Bilic-Elf must surely get the necessary points in the fight to stay in the league against other teams than away at Manchester City. Despite the crisis at the Guardiola-Elf, a point gain is unrealistic.
Mainly because the Baggies still have to do without the dangerous offensive player Matheus Pereira (eight goals, 20 assists in the previous year). After the VAR intervened, he was sent off for a high leg against Crystal Palace and suspended for three games. Bilic then felt that he was being treated unfairly by the VAR one more time (for the fourth time this season). Due to his suspension, creativity is hardly available in the offensive game and even a goal against the strong city defense would be surprising.
