Manchester Utd vs Norwich Prediction & Betting tips
Manchester United beat the Carabao Cup semi-final against Manchester City (1-3) on Tuesday-evening. Norwich City is a guest at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon and the men of Ole Gunnar Solskjær clearly have some room to put right after the breach last week.
Manchester United:
It is inevitable that Manchester United will continue to perform in the coming weeks. Solskjær is in fifth place with Manchester United in the Premier League and The Red Devils are hibernating in the Europa League, but the question is how that is possible at all. This Manchester United has been playing for months without inspiration and a number of players are even short of this level. The fact that, for example, a Jesse Lingard, who is already 27 years old, was last involved in a goal in 2018 does of course indicate something. This season, Lingard also had eighteen appearances (including nine as a substitute) in the Premier League and in all those games the attacking midfielder was unable to score or assist.
Against Manchester City, almost no one from Manchester United reached his level. It is not without reason that The Red Devils were already looking at a 0-3 deficit. Only Marcus Rashford and the talent Brandon Williams played a reasonable game in the Manchester Derby, but players like Phil Jones (which is not new), Victor Lindelöf and Fred dropped completely through the lower limit. Against Norwich City, they must at least take it from Manchester United and if the Red Devils again lose point, the criticism of Solskjær will increase even further. Manchester United has been unbeaten in the Premier League for eight consecutive home games and The Red Devils easily won 1-3 this season with 1-3 of the last.
Norwich City:
At Norwich City they have nothing to lose on Saturday afternoon when they have to visit Manchester United. Daniel Farke is at the bottom with Norwich City in the Premier League and every point on Old Trafford is a bonus point for Norwich City. Norwich City started the season reasonably well in the Premier League as a PhD candidate, but after the unexpected 3-2 win of September 14 over Manchester City, it actually only went downhill at The Canaries. We are almost four months later and Norwich City managed to win only one league match in those four months, which is why The Canaries are at the very bottom of the Premier League. The gap with Watford, the number nineteen, is already five points.
Farke, on the other hand, has been unbeaten for two consecutive games with Norwich City in the Premier League. Tottenham Hotspur (2-2) and Crystal Palace (1-1) both didn’t get any further than a draw on Carrow Road in recent weeks, while Norwich City might have earned more in both games. Last weekend The Canaries were successful in the FA Cup: Preston North End was defeated 2-4 at Deepdale by the Farke team. At the end of this month, Norwich City continues the fight for the FA Cup with an away match at Burnley. The last time Norwich City was a guest at Old Trafford, it won 1-2. That happened in 2015 and Alexander Tettey then made the winning goal. The 33-year-old defensive midfielder probably starts on the bench this weekend. Norwich City’s top scorer, Teemu Pukki, has some hamstring problems and it is questionable whether Farke will take him against Manchester United as a result.
