Middlesbrough vs Hull City Prediction & Betting tips
Middlesbrough lost a visit last Saturday at Cardiff City and Hull City received no less than four goals in the first half. Both teams would like to wash away the bad feeling of last week with a victory. It remains to be seen whether one of the two teams has the quality to put the other over the knee.
Middlesbrough :
It may be known that the English coach Tony Pulis does not make sure that every team he mentions is attractively playing football. In recent years, he has made West Bromwich Albion, Crystal Palace and Stoke City teams where defending was top priority number one during the game. The Englishman often got a lot of criticism about his game setting, but nevertheless managed to achieve stable performances time after time.
Boro chairman Steve Gibson hoped that after Garry Monk had been sacked, Pulis would become the man who could lead Middlesbrough to the Premier League again. However, Pulis indicated immediately after his appointment that the club management should not expect any miracles and two months after his appointment appears to have been a sensible statement. The results have hardly improved under Pulis. As with the appointment of Pulis, Boro is still in ninth position and direct promotion can now be completely ignored.
There is still a chance that Middlesbrough manages to reach the playoffs and in the end manages to promote the Premier League within a year. The gap with number six Bristol City is currently six points and that should not be an almost impossible task for the club that last summer spent tens of millions to strengthen the selection.
Hull City :
Just like Middlesbrough, Hull City had the objective to promote this season directly back to the highest division of England after the relegation of last season. Where middlesbrough is still somewhat close to promotion through the playoffs, Hull must be careful not to relegate for the second time in a row.
Leonid Slutsky, the experienced Russian coach, said goodbye to Hull half way through the first half of the season because of the disappointing results, but as with Middlesbrough, Hull has not been much better off than the new coach. From the beginning of December, Nigel Adkins was in charge of The Tigers, but the twenty-first place where Hull is now located can in no way be seen as an improvement.
Especially the incredibly changeable performance of Hull is currently the biggest headache for Adkins. It has been a long time since The Tigers managed to win two games in a row and because of this the relegation streak has come terrifyingly close. Adkins has been given the task to come up with points in the remaining months in any way, whereby the game image has become totally irrelevant. In Hull there will be little high-level football in the coming period.
